RMN To Test Fire Latest Anti-ship Missile Next Week

I think RSN should get a type of heli-borne AshM. Something along the line of Sea Skua, or Penguin MK2. The exocet setup looks a little too big. One must note that quite a number of M land vessels do not have at least a point air defense system.

E sea skua is semi-active radar homing so firer must maintain lock till impact n it's lack of range means e firer will get shot down first beform e missile hit.

I agree e penguin mk3 will be a gd chioce .It's 60km range mean even if they have point defence we will be out of reach.

Does anyone knows by now , whick block of Harpoon will be arming our stealth frigates ? Hopefully it will be the improve version of the old harpoon found in our corvettes.

It will be great if we had the Block 2 Harpoon. Together with Aster 15 and stealth capabilities, bye bye Lekiu. Finger cross on which anti ship missiles RSN will arm our S70B.

Navy to test missile

LUMUT: Malaysia will be the first country in the region to test-launch the Sea Skua guided missile.
The test launch would take place in the Straits of Malacca on Thursday, Royal Malaysian Navy chief Laksamana Datuk
Ilyas Din said.
South Korea is the nearest country known to have purchased the missile.
The air-to-surface missile, renowned for its precision, which Malaysia acquired from Britain following a contract signed between the two countries in 2001, is capable of sinking a ship.
However, Laksamana Ilyas declined to disclose the exact location of the test launch and the number of missiles
acquired by the navy.
"We have a large enough number," he told reporters here yesterday after pinning honorary wings on four navy
trainees who qualified for flight duty.
The test target will be a barge at sea.
Laksamana Ilyas urged all fishermen and tourist boats to stay away from a radius of 16 nautical miles from Kuala
Beruas in the Straits of Malacca.
"We have already informed the fishermen's associations and other agencies. We will take all safety precautions and
clear the area to ensure no one gets hurt," he said. -

The Sea Skua is a good weapon but I just don't trust the operator!
Those supertankers & commercial ships better stay FAR FAR away even from the safety zone designated by the RMN. Skally the operator too excited or trigger-happy and fire the missile before the missile had properly lock-on the target and acquire on a nearby super tanker.....OUCHHhh...
Can imagine the headlines tomorrow - 'JI STRIKES SUPER TANKER IN SOUTH EAST ASIAN WATERS' -

If im not wrong RSN will be getting the Sikorsky SH-60B sea-hawk helicopters for the formidable class frigates.
Other than its anti-submarine warfare capabilities, can it carry harpoons? Or modified for stand-off capability. -
No it cant carry harpoon but it can carry AGM-65, hellfire, Penguin n of corse sea skua.

I remember playing some missions on sub command... always have to go and observe missile launch in order to collect the missile and guidance radar emission data...do you think? -
