You'd just been given a dressing down by a arroggant colonial-minded fool and you are grateful?Originally posted by MobyDog:And I am grateful... but they should also watch their conduct and should not be a part of the problem.
I think Digger was aiming at me... and I was just trying to avoid a flame war here.Originally posted by tvdog:You'd just been given a dressing down by a arroggant colonial-minded fool and you are grateful?![]()
Digger... I will let TvDog reply your post.Originally posted by digger:"You haven't done diddly squat to earn the rights to preach or criticise anyone."
Thats just the point ,Singapore has done absolutely nothing(ever) and yet it is on this forum that I find this post and not one of you felt inclined to give another point of view.
Why should we join in when America goes and invade other people?
Nobody expects Singapore to do anything, ever.
If you feel so heroic about it you're welcome to go to Iraq. We won't stop you. But just because you are stupid and ignorant enough to go where you are not wanted much less needed, don't assume we must follow you. We never have a habit of following idiots and we are not about to start now.
This last paragraph reads to me like this:
We(you) are self serving and gutless.
By the way it's not just Iraq that I'm talking about here.(hence your reputation).
"Don't assume to speak for Australia. What you said would make most Australians CRINGE!!! "
If you believe that then you obviously don't know many Australians.
"Finally, you idiot, there is probably just one or two guys here - MobyDog especially - whom is posting all these vile stories about atrocities - and you fail to notice that very few people are replying or even reading these stories - and yet you call my entire country a "P.O.S. island".
Well you mental giant, the count is 1022 and climbing.
Perhaps it would have been nice for one of the over one thousand people who have read this post to put the side of the countries that are suppoedly Singapores allies ,then there would have been no need for me to answer at all. But, as ever the Singaporean way, you wait for someone else to do the hard yards and pop your head up after the fighting is done.
You think Australia went to East Timor for noble peacekeeping alone... it was for commercial benefits which was protecting your national interest -- OIL. Don't drag us into it...Originally posted by digger:

"What I want to say is that Singapore is a small country state, yet we did sent three naval mission (LSTs) to Iraq. Even though Iraq was in not time a threat to Singapore and for that matter the world. We participated in the Tsunami incident and the Katrina in US. UN missions in Cambodia, East timor (For Aussie to rob their oil) and whole lots of area."All well after the fighting was done ,you guys have never gone into harms way.
Why should we, we have no digs with the Iraqis.. we were there for support (C-130s) and naval inspection - that's has some elements of danger.
Again, Singapore is a small country state ... we have done what is expected of us already ... and the only thing is did those action benefited us ?
Thats the point you haven't, East timor being a classic example, you were asked by both sides to deploy combat troops and refused.
The perfect chance to show some leadership qualities to the rest of ASEAN,but yet again Singapore blinked and let someone else shoulder the load.
Well, don't hold your breath. If Iraqis don't want you there, and yet you go and "save" them by invading them causing many non-combatants to also die... I don't see how that's gonna do anyone any good.Originally posted by digger:Nobody expects Singapore to do anything, ever.
So what are you - great war hero - doing about it to protect Australia's reputation? By insulting other countries and what else?
This last paragraph reads to me like this:
We(you) are self serving and gutless. By the way it's not just Iraq that I'm talking about here.(hence your reputation).
True, I only read in the papers that thousands of Australians marched in protest of the Iraqi invasion and opinion polls show most Australians are against the 2nd Gulf War. Maybe you should leave your cave once in a while and find out how the average civilised Australian think/behave.
If you believe that then you obviously don't know many Australians.
How many times have you entered a thread, thinking it is interesting, and then find that someone is posting thousands of words about things they don't really want to know about and then leave the thread without bothering to post any replies?

You are joking right?Originally posted by ceecookie:i wonder why singapore never aided the american in the Korean war?
singapore and american should have some ties in the 50s
eh oh yea i forgot british was still controlling singapore...btw was Britain fighting Korea too?Originally posted by liuzg150181:You are joking right?
Singapore is still not an independent sovereign state for the whole of 1950s~~~
Yes,according to wikipedia:Originally posted by ceecookie:eh oh yea i forgot british was still controlling singapore...btw was Britain fighting Korea too?
so did any troops from singapore brits or malay or whateva join the war too?Originally posted by liuzg150181:Yes,according to wikipedia:

They are like Siamese Twins.. what do you think ?Originally posted by ceecookie:eh oh yea i forgot british was still controlling singapore...btw was Britain fighting Korea too?
Nah....the Union Jacks are Uncle Sam's Jack Russell Terrier...remember seeing a TV comedy in UK during Xmas eve 1999 showing a doggy bone being nicely tied up like a Xmas present with the note: To Tony from BillOriginally posted by MobyDog:They are like Siamese Twins.. what do you think ?
that does not give attrocities any legitimacy!! bear that in mind.Originally posted by digger:Attrocities happen in every war.
obviously you only heard the stories from the south koreans or the allied forces, not the north koreans. difficulty in getting the other side of the story does not make your story the true story. You koreans or americans who fought in the korean war???Originally posted by digger:As in every war ever fought it is also easy to get conflicting reports, depending of course on who you happen to be talking to. However, having had family members who fought in the Korean war and heard some of the stories I can assure you that I would much rather have been a prisoner of the allies than the NK/Chinese.
that is totally uncalled for.Originally posted by digger:Of course with Singapore having never fired a bullet in anger and with their total lack of support to their so called friends when it comes to putting troops in the line of fire ( lets face it,internationally the Sing defence forces haven't exactly got the"thru the door first reputation)
you guys have had an easy ride.
Tell me, who are the likely medium and large force that are likely to come and blow singapore.....???Originally posted by digger:Also,if any medium to large force ever decided to blow Singapore into the next century, and anyone who has an inkling of defence matters knows that Singapore itself could do little to stop such an attack!
It would only be the likes of the Americans,Brits,Aussies(do these names sound familiar) that would/could stop it.
The fate of Singapore does not lay with the countries like american, the brits nor the oz, it lays with us, the singaporeans!! Exposing the true faces of those who commited atrocities is not "trying to demeen", it is just a tender reminder that those who always claim moral high ground have their "DARK SIDE"!!!Originally posted by digger:So before you start gazing into the past and bagging the allies of the Korean war you would do well to remember that the fate of your little P.O.S island could well lay with the countries that you are trying to demeen.
