Synopsis:
Cutting Edge looks at how MINDEF recognised technology as a key force multiplier since day one and built up the SAF's defence capabilities within a short time through local research and development. This was done with the help of home-grown research organisations such as the Defence Science and Technology Agency and the DSO National Laboratories. The synergy between the "architect" and the user has helped create a better fit between man, machine and the SAF's needs. The documentary also looks at how some of the SAF's latest platforms were developed and built from scratch such as the Army's Pegasus, the world's first heli-portable self-propelled heavy artillery gun and the Navy's state-of-the-art Formidable class Frigates.
