Naval Diving Unit (NDU)

Hi, any singapore divers here ? just wanna enquire, if you get enlist to NDU, how is your army path like, do you still get to go to tekong ? and i heard if you aren't fit enough you'll be dropped out from the Diver's unit , by then where will u be posted ? How tough is the training ? and will weekends booking out be the same as the normal army ? Does it mean that getting enlisted into the NDU you will be able to at least take on the basic diver's course ?

I don't want to scare you.. but NDU is the most physically challenging unit you can get into.
But if you survive the Hell week, people will take their hats off for you

If you need to ask these questions. Then NDU is NOT for you.

I have a friend who wasn't downgraded, didn't suffer from any injuries, but was kicked out of NDU after NDU BMT ... dunno why .... attitude perhaps ...
so don't assume that simply because you can physically make it, you'll make it through all the way ... -

1) If you get enlisted into NDU, you will do your BMT directly at Sembawang Camp instead of Tekong
2) Remember, it's not only physically fitness that play the part... Divers also have to be mentally fit as well... regarding posting out, that depends, it'll be based on your aptitute and manpower requirements of SAF, it maybe other Naval vocations, Rifleman etc...
3) Divers are considered to be one of the toughest in the SAF... What do you think?? Hell week alone is enough to kill...
4) Yes, you'll book out during weekends like others unless you're subjected to confinements or duties
5) Not necessary, there's chances of posting out after BMT and thus, you've no chance to embark on the diving course... of course, you may also make it to diving course but can also OOC due to injuries etc... -

I went to Sembawang and tried to look for the NDU Camp-- where is it? I can understand that it's pretty hush hush, so OBVIOUSLY it's out of the public eyeshot. Oh well...
