Tribute to the Snipers

  go watch sniper 1, 2 ,3. these three movies are about a US marine sniper.
  i think the three movies are dedicated Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock, the legendary US marine sniper during the vietnam war era, with 93 confirmed kills. he even killed a vietcong sniper through the scope.
  
  the sniper works with his partner, the spotter. the spotter assists the sniper in spotting the target, helps to calculate the direction of wind, the speed of wind, the range of target, angle of slant of the rifle, etc. the sniper then adjust the crosshair to compensate for the differences.
  
  snipers also do not usually use silencers. the silencers are used only in close range. putting a silencer on the sniper rifle will defeat its purpose, as sniper rifles are made to fire from long ranges. when the target is killed, the sniper and spotter will escape in the confusion. even if the enemy fires back into their direction, their normal rifle bullets are out of range to hit the sniper.

  Is this the one where they also showed how they trained a SWAT sniper? If so, there was this scene I saw in the docu... 2 police snipers were taught how to use the raised kerb along a road as cover and concealment.
  
  You basically strip off your ghillie suit and webbing.. lay on your back with the rifle resting along your stomach and you caterpillar crawl along the kerb. Keeping the profile low ( not for those snipers with a pot belly !).
  
  They caterpillared crawled to some bushes in front of a office building where they set up a OP.

  actually..i am all for snipers using silencers..
  
  in certain circumstances and scenarios..if they miss. They can have another crack without alerting the target.
  
  Then again..they hardly miss.
