I will suspect US will be clapping with joy.. arms sales and clamp the "China Rising" Question. The US propaganda media machinery will be at over-drive, sauntions.... sauntions ... evil regime ... and so on. Not hard to imagine..

When China strikes , It will only be a matter of time before USA and Japan falls.

N. korea will attack s.korea
Japan will be bombed but not occupied , maybe a 2nd battle in the pacific , but the Chinese fleet may emerge victorious.
We're only seeing stage 1 of what 1.3 billion people country can do.
and we've only seen stage 10 of what 300 million people country can do..
i wonder who is brave enough to stand in China's way?
China wouldn't strike Singapore unless we stand in their way , but it may have some axe to grind with old foes.........

1st China don't have a credible fleet for a cross-strait landed operation. 2nd if they do , they will be a high price to pay. You must consider what will happen inside china 1st .
At first people will support the war, but as casualties mount , and you must consider the whole country workers come to a standstill due to stopage of trade . Imagine out of that 1.3 billion folk how many factory workers. Factory don't start work, shipment of goods oversea stop, equal no money, no food . 3 mths down the road, you have 0.2 billion angry folks, hungry folks that will slowly turn against the government in china for a stupid war. The war may be lost at home. -
War between PRC and Taiwan is very unlikely in the near future. This is because there is growing social instability in China due to large gap between the poor and the rich. The rich mainly from the coastal cities are very rich while the poor mainly from the inland regions are very poor. Economic sanctions are very likely to be imposed on PRC by USA so out of desperation these poor peasants will cause civil unrest and even rise in revolt. There are already many civil unrests lately due to corruption in the provinces. The Communist Party will never let their grip on power slip away from them.

I think US will help abit, not alot as war is costly to them. I don't think US can help everybody, besides, China is not a small country like Iraq.
In a war, nobody really wins I think. There will be many casaulties.
It will take at least months for the war to end, Taiwan is no pushover either. They have good secret technologies I am sure. I believe China have sent spies to do some recon first in Taiwan, know the enemy know yourself. In fact, China seems to send spies everywhere, even to US.
I think if there is a war breaking out, it's not good to alot of countries. Worse case, there may be world war 3 when countries starts to side with one or the other. -

Reunification of China n taiwan, peacefully seems to be something that will happen in the future IF taiwan doesn't try to declare independence.
Should Taiwan try to do that, then China will no doubt take military action.
The outcome of the confrontation will definitely be a lose-lose situation from the taiwanese - chinese perspective. It might be a win- situation for the USA though. Such a confrontation would no doubt set China back economically. And Taiwan will no doubt continue to remain under American influence.
If there is a war? Well, our businesses in China would definitely be affected... most probably negatively. Its bad for Singapore too. -
I know I'll be in BIG trouble as Taiwanese missiles are definitely aimed at the city which I'm residing - which also happens to provide 30% of all Chinese taxes.

My opinion is as long as the US don't meddle China business.. nothing will happen. US has the habit of screwing up other peoples lives. What they tends to manufacture up troubles.
If you google " CIA Exploits" and " John Stockwell ex cia" you will be angry at what the US (with Australia, British)has done to the world and 3rd world countries for the past 50 yrs. (including Indonesia). El salvador contra is the worst. -
Basically you don't start a war you CANNOT win.
Depsite all the noise and hoo ha the chinese is making now, I am sure there are rational military and political leaders that will ultimately make he rational decision.
Right now China CANNOT invade Taiwan militarily but military gap is widening and there is a real threat that the point where an invasion is possible.
But concurrently china is more and more dependent on the outside world for capital, trade and oil (more on that later).
In the past, china is "inward looking" and "self sufficient". War might be feasible as things like a sanctions and blockade won't hurt them. but right now, without trade and capital the coastal enconomy will come to a standstill.
Also china use to be self sufficient in energy due to its coal reserve. but with widespread use of cars, it is now dependent on oil imports... without oil imports, its economy would also be affected.
As such, the more "developed" china becomes, the more affected china will be by war and as such, the least likely a war will occur.
As for US sanctions affecting China we should also look from another perspective. China is now the factory of the world. Would the rest of the world sit idly by when US imposed sanctions? As their econvomy will be affected also.
US itself will also be affected as china is their major trade partner also.
As for the might of the Chinese Navy, I don't give the PLAN much chance against the US 7th Fleet. The will be wiped out like in the opium war.
Yes, they are commisioning new ships, but most of their navy is old and they are basically unproven. -

I think China will not be a threat to other country at least not militarily. Since history China had always been playing a big yet peaceful country who had never seek to war with others unneccessarily.
But one thing for sure China will inevitable become a super power. Which for centuries before, China had always been the global super power, except for a brief period of time. In fact the economical threats seems more eminient than the millitary threat.
Nuke to taiwan is impossible as that would simply make China the criminal of all Chinese for the coming generation. -
Actually, i read somewhere that simulations of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan would be over in 6 days with US intervention. In the favor of the mainland...
