Wish List for SAF 2006-2016

my personal thinking is that for
army:
1. tanks to replace the amx-13s. they are way too old. their 90mm guns cant do much when dealing with modern tanks.
2. accelerate the transition to 3G army. 1st from commando and guards to the combined armed division.
airforce:
1. maybe 1 more F-15 squadron, then i can really say they are replacing the skyhawks.
2. new aew&c like boeing 737 and more powerful maritime patrol aircraft like boeing 737. our fokker 50 are reported to be weak in asw. there is also commonality when both MPA and aew&c are both boeing 737.
3. utility heli like blackhawk to replace the already retired huey. perhaps also buy more medium / heavy lift heli for rapid deployment of large troops. it will be ideal if our heli numbers can transport 1 guards battalion with all equipment at any time.
4. new transport plane to totally replace the 10 hercules in our fleet. perhaps 10 A-400s
navy:
1. maybe the transport fleet needs to be increased. recent tsunami mission saw 3 of our 4 LSTs in action. my personal view is 6 to 8 will be great. maybe in the form of landing platform assault that can carry more heli and more troops to support rapid deployment.
2. strike forces currently enough. maybe the 6 corvettes be upgraded with further 6 formidable-class frigate. that makes it 12 frigate in our strike fleet. patrol vessels be fitted with surface missile system will be great.
3. 6 new submarine to replace the our old sub in the time frame 2010 to 2016 loh. -

More LPDs.I have to agree with that.
but keep the C-130s..maybe get the J version and three heavy lifts. -
I thought Sherm's guns were 40mm ?
I did see a hybrid lighttank in one of the SAF clips. Rolling off the fastcraft during beach assault. -

well, for the RSAF:
- more F-15SGs. preferably we end up with around 48 of them
- upgrade our F-16C/D block 52 to Block 60 standards, with APG-80 AESA radar, improved EW/ECM suite, and maybe even change the powerplant to the F110-GE-132
- a few squadrons of F-35A JSFs.
- new AWACS aircraft. maybe smth like the JASDFs 767 AWACS or the IAI Phalcon, smth along those lines.
- C-130Js. -
Our own fleets of UAV / UCAVs - Lalee as the new AWAC and the new UCAV to tag team with our F15 in wild wessel mission.

I wonder which other tank still in operation in the world uses 75mm other than the AMX-13. If i am not wrong the AMX-13 is designed around this highly accurate gun straight after WW2. The original design of this gun is supposedly captured from the Germans after the war.

ENCAP block II AGM84 for our Navy submarine force.
Half or all the bionix AFVs in our amour force armed with anti-tank missiles. -
AMX13 has a very accurate gun. yes it is old but at least it is accurate. if ur gunners are good, than no prob!
if i am not wrong, Argentina and Venezuela both still have AMX 13 running around.
in ten yrs time i am sure we will have a new tank rolling down the padang. -
But 10 years is a long wait my friend...hopefully they will reveal something new this time in NDP just like last year where they showcase the Igla on M113 combo...

Longer version of the M2. Equipped American and British vehicles such as the M4 Sherman, the later models of the M3 Grant and the Churchill IV (scavenged from M4 Sherman tanks).

* Shell weight 15 lb (7 kg)
* Armour penetration ~3.5 in (89 mm) depending on AP shell
Problem is, it can only pierce 89mm of armor......and it doesnt even have APDS to boost its piercing ability......
