WWII Fave: Focke Wulf Fw190
A real shocker for the Allies during the mid 1943-44. This was one wicked dogfighter. Spitfire Mk IXs were totally outclassed. During the battle of Dieppe, the sea-borne landings failed because the RAF were raped big time by this new German fighter.
ah. avro vulcan. somehow it had a rather low RCS even though it was so large...Originally posted by GIB:Best looking aircraft, to me, would be the Avro Vulcan.
The Avro Arrow is not bad either. Shame it got cancelled.
oops my bad...a bit rustyOriginally posted by abao:- The Battle of Dieppe happened in 19 August 1942
- The British were using Spitfire IX from June 1942
- The Germans were using Fw-190D & G as in 1942
- The Spitfire IX was a success considering that it was an interim aircraft
