50 of the 500lb GBU-38 JDAM bombs were ordered as part of the F-15T deal.Originally posted by Shotgun:I believe JDAMs would be part of our inventory soon enough.
We already have plenty of ordinary free-fall bombs and LGBs; those 50 bombs come with the BLU-111 warhead which can be used to strike hardened targets such as aircraft shelters. Considering the fact that our potential adversries do not have too many of these shelters, this purchase of 50 weapons is sufficient for the time being...Originally posted by beavan:what can we do with jus 50 of those bombs?
i think prolly they'll research into it and MAYBE reverse engineer it for RSAF
Besides the TV-guided AGM-65B and IIR AGM-65G we also have a number of laser-guided AGM-65E Mavericks... Nevertheless the AGM-65G variant packs the biggest punch due to its larger 300lb warhead.Originally posted by sgFish:not sure about the JDAM, we probably do, but we are getting the AGM-154 JSOW, which has a much longer range than the JDAMs
AGM-65 maverick you mean. We use the AGM-65B and G variants.
AIM-9Xs have been ordered together with the F-15T as part of the package
ooh really? Why'd we need the E model for? so that our guys on the ground can paint targets for them?Originally posted by Delta 5:Besides the TV-guided AGM-65B and IIR AGM-65G we also have a number of laser-guided AGM-65E Mavericks... I think our F-16s can self-designate targets... The AGM-65E would be useful when the targets are 'cold' such as buildings in which the AGM-65G would not be able to lock on... Moreover it is a big improvement over the TV -guided AGM-65B.Originally posted by sgFish:ooh really? Why'd we need the E model for? so that our guys on the ground can paint targets for them?
one at a time only meh? i think if the operator is quick enough he can ripple fire at multiple targets...It is after all, a fire and forget weapon.Originally posted by Shotgun:Eh, i've never tried using laser guided Mavericks before.. only the TV-guided ones. The maverick's sensors pick everything up nicely. Be it buildings or vehicles. Easy to use too... point maverick at target, wait for the unit to acquire, then lock it and shoot it.
My only gripe is that i can only launch 1 at a time. Heh. That means have to loiter a bit longer for those manpads to take potshots at me.
you are a fight pilot?Originally posted by Shotgun:Well, I can't speak for the WSOs. The only way that the Mavericks can be rippled fired quickly is that if its slewed to the radar.
Means the radar locks on to the target, maverick's sensor locks on to the radar's target. Fire, switch to next target, fire switch again.
Still, u can't lock multiple targets and fire at once.
Besides, if we were to use a laser guided maverick, the pilot still has to fly a designator turn to keep the maverick on target. Laser guided mavericks definitely has a slower rate of fire since u have to guide til the missile impacts.
yeah i meant that. sorry if i didn't make it clear >.<Originally posted by Shotgun:Well, I can't speak for the WSOs. The only way that the Mavericks can be rippled fired quickly is that if its slewed to the radar.

haha i believe he plays flight simsOriginally posted by Simon Dean:you are a fight pilot?![]()
Can also use to take out SAM sites... soft and fragile target....Originally posted by Shotgun:Okay, I've never been a big fan of equipping guidance units on cluster munitions. To me, cluster munitions do 1 thing, support ground troops...
U don't need GPS guided CBU-87s to do that. U need a FAC to tell u where to put the bombs.
