  Because the trip flare might be used as an early warning system? And we have things like claymore to hurt the enemy.

  it does two jobs when used this way....he'd be on fire....running around...and his mates would be trying to take out the fire...thus chaos ensues...and thats where the claymore comes in......y use as a candle when it can be used as a flamethrower....and letting the victim be the 'candle'
