Possibility: Barrel was disengaged from main MG body by some smart aleck gunner who thinks he knows what to do, and didn't install it back properly. Note: 3 clicks must be heard when installing the barrel back to the MG breech. 3 clicks heard = locked in... possibility of barrel flying out = less chance of u getting struck by lightning. -

I recall one of my incident with GMPG gun.. Was firing blanks from my GPMG mounted on the M113. Unknown to me, the screw holding the trigger component was loose. Note that the the sear holding back to bolt was in the trigger component. As such, the shear was unable to hold back the bolt even after the trigger is release.. Runaway gun occur... finish half a box of blanks before I manage to rectify the issue.
I doubt this will happen to live firing such the weapons all go thru ffi first.. -
Why would I want a p90 or p229 or a dagger, when I can shoot anyone from as far away with GPMG. Yes it may be heavy, but it is worth its weight in gold when fire fight began.Originally posted by CuteBeat:sorry,it's the lighter the better..get a p90,a p228 and a good old dagger will do the job..
Learn from the SAS, every fight they pick, they make sure they steal or grab all the GPMG they can get their hands on. -
So far so good for me....Once in India live firing exercise my MG was mounted on A vehicle and shoot four boxes of 7.62mm at one go ..............Must change barrel.......
Its proven it can be truct worthy provided with proper maintainence......Key is to oil alot and must be very clean..... -
Last time i fired it during night live firing, my target board caught fire....

For me MG is more better cleaning than SAW...Beocz of my vocation I have two personnal weapon Primary is MG secondary is SAW......I would rather clean MG then SAW.....Much easier.....If you clearly know which part going to clean first then life would be easier.....
The trick is after very live firing immdiately clean the pistol before the carbon hardened this will makes you cleaning much more easier

As far as I'm concerned, the MG should stay on a tank or armoured vehicle.

Haha how I wish I could stay on Armour Vehicle, I remember last time my P.C told me that MG gunner would have good life no need to dismount and alway fire base no need to chiong.....When come to real time, I have never stay on Armour vehicle and never been fire base.......I chiong all the time with my P.C bring me to clear trench and MG fire on the movie and all those stuffs.....Do fire movement all etc like what normal troopers do.......Once in FIBUA I was told to dismount MG with my SAw.....wow....now I think back although its quite ridiculous but somehow I did it.........

All the talk of not having to "chiong" with the platoon and travels on the tonner to fire bases. They just conveniently forget to mention about the treks up the mountains to reach firebase, the trek downwards to rejoin the platoon, the fire movements with the MG, and how can I ever forget the massive amount of weapon cleaning that needs to be done after every exercise. That's ought to deliver the knock out blow when you think you're all done from the outdoor exercises.
If you need some consolations though, just remind yourselves of what the 84 gunners and Mortar guys are doing. You should feel slightly better. -

It is not used to sweeping !!! That a very wrong concept.
A GPMG Gunner must learn to fire very short control burst of 3-5 round at target each time only. Which is short burst that is controllable and accurate , also conserve rounds . -
Ya...your are all right....one of my range I get to shoot a oil drum 800m away...thats oversea.....Been a MG gunner so far my MG does alway giving me trouble unless shooting blanks so if I will to rate I will rate 8/10
