I don't really get it. Why are there so many evil-hearted singaporeans hoping for more suffering on a fellow human being just because he defaulted on his NS? I know some ppl who have undergo NS would feel indignant abt him getting off lightly but we should wish him well that he manages to get himself a successful career instead of having his life ruined by a stupid National Slavery. Lets not even forget he is more of a british than a singaporean, having lived in England for so many years, not to mention that he couldn't visit his parents regularly.
If we want fairness we should seriously start a campaign to abolish NS or get local women drafted so that the duration of NS could be shortened. -

by fining him, the court has decided that he is gulity, but i feel the punishment is not fitting.
i ask myself why is he only fined 5k, the reasons are obvious for all to see.
i would have been perfectly happy if he come back and was not punished in any way. this would mean that the gov has got no case against him, but instead we say he is gulity but we only fine him 5k. that is a slap for all of us we did ns. -

the 5k fine is an insult to all singaporean males who served NS.
it goes to show that a talented musician is more important. i am surprised he has the cheek to come back, let alone live and perform here.

You will skip NS, IPPT, RT and Reservist Training.
It will motivate the present batch of Singaporeans to send their children overseas to be like him.
The worst is you become a British PR or US citizen.
You dun have NS, IPPT, Reservist, CPF, GST, ERP, San Man, Million Dollar Scholar yakking at you and Dungue Mosquito.
The best is if you come back at FOREIGN TALENT, get your face published in ST.

2 to 3 years NS can ruin one's prospect/carreer?
Take the man in the center as example.Most likely he would be posted to
