can our F-5s use PGMs like mavericks or paveways? -
Our F5 is comparable to the early block 15 F16 at most leh. The F5 engine is too weak and bomb load too small. Radar and EWS also very limited in capability and little room for future upgrade.

Our tigers should be able to use mavericks, easily integrated. But for paveways, I doubt so.

It may be possible for the Tigers to carry the PGM while a designator aircraft (like a Strike Eagle) illuminates the target.

Nowaday with new weapons and missiles that became more effective and manoveurable, planes like F5 or Mig21 can be just as deadly as any modern fighters, once they are upgrade with the modern avionics and radars.
With modern avionics and radars they are the new launching platform for the new missiles and weapons. Even in close in combat, in old days yep , planes may need to out manuevour each other, nowadays with helmet mounted sights and with more manuevour missiles like python 4 or 5, things change totally. -

Now, the upgrading of the RSAF's entire Tiger fleet of about 40 planes has
been completed, at about $6 million a plane. This is a bargain considering
that a brand new F-16 costs about US$25 (S$43) million.
The upgrading has given the F-5S an additional lifespan of 10 to 15 years
each.
As for sceptics who think that the upgrade results in only superficial
changes, Mr Lim Tau Fuie, vice-president of avionics in STA, had this to say:
"It's now a much more effective plane than what it used to be.
"If there were no benefits, then other air forces like the Turkish Air Force
wouldn't have gone for it."

conversion instead of buying the new plan.The saving of
$1480m is more than enough to buy the first batch of Apache. -
The quoted 50 feet accuracy refers to the avionics guiding the pilot to release dumb bombs at a calculated point by toss or dive bombing. With smart bombs the expected accuracy should be a few feet.

Basically I find the F-5 very suitable for defending air-fields from ground-attack. That was the usual role of the Skoshi Tigers back at the Vietnam War.
