If USA exercises it's full military might with 12 active carrier battle groups and all it's aircraft.Originally posted by Shotgun:Au contrare. The outcome on the Syrian issue would be quite predictable. US is already considering military actions against Syria. Though they claim its a "last" option.
What other options is there?
Besides Syria, there are still several thorns pricking the Mighty US in the Mid-East. Since they are already there, they are probably gonna start picking these thorns 1 by 1.
Now, if North Korea and South Korea picks up from where they left off. US will definitely not stay out of it. Lesson learnt from WW2, the death camps in Germany, nope they wont. Besides, the US constitution almost pledges them to aid a democratic country struggling from oppression. Thats why the China -Taiwan issue is still a big problem. The US can't stay out of it even if they want to.
The problem is , Taiwan has stationed a radar station there and forces(according to military news) there , to alert the forces in ROC in case anything happensOriginally posted by Shotgun:Actually, their first priority is to secure the series of isles approx 40miles west of taiwan. It has an airstrip as well as harbor, and can be used as a jump off point. Being just 40 miles away, they can also can fire their long range rockets from that location.
But also don't forget there'r 1000 PLA short ot medium range SSMs plus unknown number of cruise missiles aimed at Taiwan's all main military facilities. Anything happens, the missiles will be 1st launched . so howÂ’s the survivability of those Radar stations are doubtfulOriginally posted by SMAPLionHeart:The problem is , Taiwan has stationed a radar station there and forces(according to military news) there , to alert the forces in ROC in case anything happens
They arent going to deploy 3million troops. Some one has to watch the borders.Originally posted by SMAPLionHeart:You have 3 million troops.
more then how many times more then the number of taiwan military.
but if you just happened to have 1 naughty troop who alerts taiwan ..
Furthermore , it is not easy to mask the movement of 3 million troops with today's satellite hovering at 400km away from earth
I believe they will need as much manpower as they can get.Originally posted by |-|05|:They arent going to deploy 3million troops. Some one has to watch the borders.
yr last para is damn right man. If I were the PRC general, I would just launch a few missiles with no warheads heading for taipei and kaoshiung, declare the sea around Kaoshiung war zone and create a special zones to welcome taiwanese in the Guangdong province giving them special privileges to settle. then sit back and watch what ah bian and the US would do.Originally posted by donchoo:If i were a general, i would assault and sercure a port so more men and equiptment could be massed to make the push inland. ...
But... up north on a hilly mountain lsland called okinawa, got a bunch of US ppl waiting for this day for a long time.
Originally posted by tvdog:China is a very big country. A very huge population. There are at least 100 million mainland Chinese who wouldn't even consider littering on the lawns of Disneyland. Much less piss or shit there.
So how can you condemn a whole people based on some acts your uncle saw?
I once saw a white man in Orchard Road outside Far East Plaza McDonald. He was so drunk he couldn't walk. He leaned against a pillar, pissed in his pants and then collapsed in a heap on his own urine.
Would you condemn the whole European race because of this one act? Of course not, it is an isolated incidence under extreme circumstances.
Why are you so quick to condemn the Chinese because of a few peasants? If they piss on the lawns of Disneyland because there are WIDESPREAD complaints that there are not enough toilet facilities in Disneyland. You think they do it for fun? Crapping in the lawn beats pissing or crapping in your pants, wouldn't you say?
While there are a lot of peasants there are also a lot of very cultured people who grew up in the cities and behave very civilised. In Singapore we have a lot of bad-mannered Ah Bengs and unfortunately, some foreigners also judge us based on them. So I hope we don't "do unto others as others do unto us"...
There is also a temple worshipping Jiangkaishek in Taiwan. There is no dispute that Mao had done much to the poor peasants in china but he is remembered only as the founding father of PRC, like Sunyetsen in ROC. Already Deng did not follow everything that Mao said and today Deng is remembered only as the leader who opened up china leading to current prosperity. There is not much the current young chinese could remember about the past, many don't even recognise FEC. (except for the history on WW2 and that part of history on why Hong Kong and Macao came under foreign rules).Originally posted by Shotgun:hmm, i can agree with what you have posted. However, the position of chairman is really immensely powerful. With Mao and Deng as examples. They were extremely popular. Up til today, Mao and Deng are still regarded as heroes.
My point remains that the US is wary of any country that can allow enormous powers to be put under 1 or few people. Like china.
