I'm not sure if we actually bought the Harpoon block2s. I kinda thot I read in straits times a long long time ago that we did...? They were kinda bragging about its ability to be used as a "poor-man's cruise missile."

Actually the main pushing factor for procuring a longer range ASM would be due to Malaysia's procurement of Otomat Mk II missiles fitted on its 4 Laksamana FSGs from 1998 onwards. These missiles have similar performance to the Harpoon but have a range of 150km, thus demonstrating a significant range advantage over the Harpoon.
Given Singapore's lack of transparency in defence, it would not be surpising if we had already acquired the Harpoon Block 2 missiles but perhaps unveil them to the public only years later.
