thats where the matador comes in......dont like its weight though.....but kinda like the sights.....Originally posted by BillyBong:The Milan is a bad buy IMO.
The wire will snap at some point, especially due to our tropical vegetation
Also it is extremely heavy and ungainly for deep penetration (a GFAC can do better).
And the weapon is tailored for heavy targets....so hitting anything other than a T-80 MBT will be a waste.
heard it retained the sights of the old armbrust .... anyone can confirm this ? ...Originally posted by Rockhound:thats where the matador comes in......dont like its weight though.....but kinda like the sights.....
dunno bout that....i'm one of the newer LAW trained soldiers......didnt really fire the armbrust....all i gotta say is that the Matador is pretty accurate and it takes a dumb ass to miss(once u get used to the leading and lagging when aiming moving targets).....Originally posted by Fatum:heard it retained the sights of the old armbrust .... anyone can confirm this ? ...
dunno about you ... but to me the old armbrust sights were a pain .....
My friend ORDed a SPIKE user but has never fired it. Infact for live fire he shot the MILAN hah.Originally posted by fudgester:Whatever the case, I suppose only the PDF units are still using the MILAN. All the front-line units should have the SPIKE instead. Shorter arming distance (200m vs MILAN's 400m), longer range (4km vs 2km).... and so on.
Anyone has any experiences firing the SPIKE?
The Matador is definitely a more powerful weapon compared to the Armbrust. It may have a warhead of the same blast effect but the key is that it can now penetrate AFVs with thicker armour due to the advanced design of the weapon.Originally posted by Rockhound:dunno bout that....i'm one of the newer LAW trained soldiers......didnt really fire the armbrust....all i gotta say is that the Matador is pretty accurate and it takes a dumb ass to miss(once u get used to the leading and lagging when aiming moving targets).....
kinda heard from my instructors that basically the armbrust and matadors 'effect' is similar....same oomph..heavier weight...
and when they said the matador is smokeless...they lied...lol...practically powder-bathed with dust and all other sh*t when i fired one...

die lorOriginally posted by SpecOps87:So when the missile impacts the target, what happens to the guidance wire?
And also...someone posted that the wire will be broken in our vegetation...so if this happens, what will happen to the missile?
adding a spike doesnt make it advanced...it was a simple remedy...lolOriginally posted by Delta 5:The Matador is definitely a more powerful weapon compared to the Armbrust. LOL! If it missed then how? Detonate the C4 that was already placed at the dummy target! Make it look like some kinda hit. Hahaha.Originally posted by archon1234:Still remembered the case when SAF do a live firing exercise with the Phillipines Armed Forces, the highlight of the wayang show was supposed to be the live firing of our Milan AT missile at a dummy target across a river about 2km away. But our Milan missile missed the big time, and dropped into the water halfway during the flight!
After that, SAF began her search for a more potential AT missile replacement. In the end, we got spike. Milan is good for the big size Ang Mo, too bulky and heavy from Asian. The Launcher alone is about 20kg, missile is about 20+kg.
