i wonder why our SAF need so many of artilery weapon...
Radar guided missles gao liao, artilery must risk wasting ammunitions. -

Long range ballistics are proven to be very effective in modern warfare.
least of casualties to home side if they can get the coordinates of the enemy's location by probe or survellience -
because in times of war, we dun actually need infantry, navy personnels...
what we need is to beef up the long and mid-range missles and guns so that we can fire far away.....to attack.

Max range is 30km using ERFB-BB munitions. Same range as FH-88 but with a 60% weight saving. -

They don't have that many of those tomahawk missles, To use all the time.
Now warfare has become to search for enemy locations and contest on who's the fastest to deploy their long range weapons to take out communications and cripple supplies and ammunitions. -

firing rate for FH-88 is better than the new LWSPH... 3 rds in less than 15 secs (burst rate for FH-8

Well, when Guards units deploy, they are supposed to be carry everything they need to carry out the mission.
Localised fire missions for targets that are not within range of the other arty assets in our arsenal would enable them to carry out their mission much more effectively. -
What an upleasant looking design. Seeing it around in khatib camp makes me wonder. Cant DSTA put it the extra effort / Time designing a nice chassis for this pounder. It does kinda help in any possible export.

155mm average range is probably around max 40+ km. An air portable 155 is quite uncommon tho. Thumbs up for ST.

It looks rather crudly designed...but hell,if it works and rains hell,death and destruction at the enemy,it is a good weapon.Now that we have figured out how to make the artillery piece air mobile...how about the shells?Arty is known to consume rounds pretty rapidly...so will they be able to transport the rounds rapidly enough?

Hmm...nice gadget...pretty handy for our 21st Div. The issue that MINDEF didn't go into full detail about was the timing of getting the gun into action. Not as in getting the first shot out, but in camouflaging the gun, i.e. the "action front" timing. To add to that, how long does it take to "cease fire" the gun and have it ready for airlift - crew, equiment and ammo included?
The only good thing about this gun is the mobility and weight. However, once it is deployed on the ground, it still requires a 5 or 7 ton to tow it away, or a Chinook to airlift it, since its SP status is quite limited. It is not exactly self-contained either; it still relies on an external source to deliver its ammo.
Other than that...I must admit that this gun increases the combat power of our RDF. -

I think the question about how they are supposed to be used in conjunction with a RDF would be predicated on a few factors,
1. How much ammo do they carry with them in battle?
2. How long does it take from the time it is "dropped" from the helo to the 1st round out?
3. How long does it take to redeploy either via their own SP or via helo again?
I personally dun think that they will be used in a sustained fashion but more of a punch when firepower is really needed.
