Singapore, of course, was home to a major GCHQ listening station at Kranje in the north of the island.fr AFI Research & Armed Forces Intelligence
Later largely run by the Australia's Defence Signals Directorate it was taken over by the Singapore Signals Intelligence Service in 1974. Its capability vastly expanded, the present Kranje site houses a DSD liaison team and an NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY SLO.
Singapore has the most advanced SIGINT capabilities in terms of technical and operational sophistication, complementing two ground facilities with modern airborne systems, and capable of comprehensively and systematically monitoring communications out to about 2,000 km around the island.fr
One ground station is at Kranji, in the northwest of the island, which was originally established by Australia's DSD in 1971 and then taken over by Singapore in 1974, and which was used to monitor military, diplomatic, and commercial communications across Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, China, and the Indochinese countries.[44] It has reportedly since been 'vastly expanded'.[45]
A second site is maintained by Army SIGINT units at @@## Camp in the &&&& of Singapore.[46]
