questions with regards to enlistment

Okay, I've done some searching on the forums, but found nothing along this line. (should I miss out anything, forgive me.)
Some background info:
I'm a JC student.
So basically, most of my friends received their enlistment letters within the course of the past week and this week. And I've not gotten mine, rang MIW hotline up, machine tells me my enlistment date is yet to be confirmed, I will be mailed 2 months before my enlistment date, so I'm not expecting anything to be mailed to me in the next week either.
Am I to assume that I will be in the.. next batch or something?
What about being posted to navy, police, etc? I'm not too sure about this, but, I refuse to believe the posting is THAT random. -
hmm, what's your Physical Employment Status (PES) category? or have you not even gone for the medical check-up already?
whatever it is, don't count on the 2 months notice that they said they'd give. well ok, to be fair to the rest, MOST people get it but there are some lucky ones who don't get their enlistment notice that early. as for myself, i got it 2 weeks prior to my enlistment, so yeah, there we go.
iirc, there's someone on this forum who's got a friend who was celebrating his b'day and on that day, he received his letter telling him to enlist THE NEXT DAY, and the party had to be cancelled, and gone was his pink ic.
anyway, i have NO intentions to scare you whatsoever. i'm just telling you based on experience, and also, seeing that apparently no one has responded to your thread, i'll be the first.

I wouldnt consider getting a late enlistment as something lucky. In numerous cases, late enlistment will leads to postponing the date of entry into university. JC intake is usually very regularized.
Don't quote me, but I'd say that you have a good chance of being seated in the feb/april intake if you haven't received your enlistment letter by now, seeing that your classmates have all already gotten their letters.

Hmm. My medical checkup was like one of the earliest (in my class) - march; march school holiday to be precise.
My PES status is B, napfa; gold.
Still no letter. =/ 98% of the people got their letters already, even those in the april intake.
Not so worried about delayed uni entry though, NS is 2 years now -

SPF.. bwah.. i'm thinking, after NS, everyone would be talking about their rifles, and I would be a blur-head.
Does that mean SPF ppl get their letter very late? -

anyway, if u go SPF u will be carrying 'Live' firearms ALL the time...no such thing as black blanks.
u oso see the other side of SG....sometimes its more dangerous than in the army cos all is real life....draw arm must draw fast cos ur life depends on it....shooting or not is a separate matter -
Hmm okay. So I assume there's a high likelyhood of getting into SPF.
