Yes, the other forumnites are right... the pellets ricochet.
I had a lot of fun with my kids' guns. We went to a wood (forest) behind our home and had a great time. Unfortunately, no pheasants or game birds to try our luck.
Beware that they do not last long ... but since they cost only a few pounds, you can get a few at a time to play. The plastic , if dropped on a hard floor, may crack, and sometimes the spring which provides the force to propel the pellet will come out of its housing and it is with only great difficulty that one can put it back. Remember it is 20 pounds force spring , at least.
