the problem is that singapore is resource poor... and its only valueble reasource is the human resource...
thus it makes every sense that for singapore to continue its growth... the key would be to increase its one and only valueable resource... namely... human population.
secondly... the lure of PRC market has opened the eyes of the govt.. that size... has an advantage that quality alone could not replace.
for singapore to remain a viable economic state admist the 2 rising giants... singapore must provide opportunities that is usually found in high population density cities like hongkong.
thus the aim is to reach a population density that is attractive to both foreigners to come and for singaporeans to stay...
in short... we cant take on the big countries like PRC and India... but we can take on their cities, metropolitans to be exact and gain a niche in the global market... but to do that... we must have a population density comparable with those metropolitans that is found in PRC and India.
cost is no longer everything... but rather... opportunity is the new buzz word..
