Spider LSV Secures Position In Darpa Grand Challenge Finals 2005
Singapore, 6 October 2005 - Singapore Technologies Kinetics' (ST Kinetics) Spider Light Strike Vehicle (LSV) has been named one of 23 finalists selected for the prestigious US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Grand Challenge. The finalists were selected from an initial 196 teams who signed up for the gruelling competition, which will reward US$2m (approximately $3.38m) to the winning autonomous vehicle team that completes the treacherous 175-mile course in the shortest time within a 10-hour limit.

The Spider's software causes it to slowly come to a stop when paused, and the timing of the pause was such that the Spider stopped with its wheels resting against a guardrail..............
