Lets say the government decides to launch a national automobile industry. Tell me, will the 1st Singapore national car use the same technology as the first Ford car that came out over 100 years ago?
I don't know much about the space technology that China is using. But don't assume that because they are doing the same thing US and USSR did 40 years ago, then they must also be using the technology of 40 years ago. -
China space technology is still below par compare to the USA and USSR. But the recent ShenZhou Flight in 2004 & 2005 had proven that Chinese Space technologists had managed to integrate the USSR tech into the Shenzhou Space programme.
More importantly, Chinese space agency has successfully done 2 repeatable manned space flights after the USA and USSR. We can expect to see a great inflow of USSR talents into China, and provide a great boast in China technological Great Leap Forward in 2010 - 2020 time frame.
In addition, the space technologies could also be used in both civilian and military application. We will see China as a new tech leader in radar, signal, semiconductors and aerospace industries sooner than we expect, in around 5years down the road. -
