extremely puzzling RSAF question

  Government gave away F-16 A/B to Thailand , and give A4-SU to tertiary institutions?
  
  Shouldn't our own students deserve better?

  A4SU is very old plane compared to F16
  
  A4SU are not flyable by today standards.
  
  However, F16A/B is still flyable, and used for air interception role , therefore why must it be dismantled and used for research and engineering by Poly students?

  Erm, we actually gave our F-16 A/Bs away. Thats why they couldn't let the institutions have it?

  Simple answer that !!! You think in engineering when they talk about cars , they get a merc or a toyota to learn ?
  
  You give too advance plane like F-16 to student, which too many advance stuff . a lot of they also blur, teacher also lost !
  
  Give them a skyhawk , which is something Singapore already turn inside out. So it is something better for them to learn.

  We didn't "give" the F16A/Bs away....
  
  It was an "exchange". The Thais got the a/c, we got the rights to use airbases close to home for training....

  F-16 is fly by wire (electrical), A-4 is fly by cable (mechanical).

  Says who? Our A-4s are very good at ground-attack even in today's standards. Being smaller and more manoverable is a also an added advantage. The A-4SU is a match even with Tornadoes.

  Not in terms of payload n range. I would say the A-4SU can still effectively be used in the CAS role. It can pop mavericks on demand.
