The Phoenix ain't perfect, if it was, they would have carried on with the Super Tomcat project. But they didn't. I guess they realised that.
I'm not saying that the phoenix is useless either, im a tomcat fan myself. The phoenix is a weapon that u can really reach out an touch somebody with. But its just too expensive to be cost efficient. And with advancement in anti-missile technology, the Fleets don't need an expensive weapon to shoot down bombers before they can launch their anti-ship missiles. That was what the phoenix was made for.
Ha ha ha... Looks like we won't be making believer out of the other, so why don't we agree to disagree and leave it at that.

A pity we won't be seeing the Tomcats in skies anymore. They were pretty birds.
