Can we confirm the source of all the F5s? I believe some are ex-Royal Jordanian Air Force a/c.
When our F-15 comes....Originally posted by |-|05|:Lol so you'd stand in the open when a MIG-29 comes at you and wave because you might think it's our's?
Nah just messing with you hah
F-5 is more a sharp noise rather than soft.....Originally posted by Shotgun:F-16 = LOUD
F-5 = SOFT
Actually they are a bit hard to tell apart. But after a while, u'll be able to see the difference. the F-5s just have a more dart like feel to it.
Originally posted by Shotgun:Wait till you hear the sound of those F-15 engines. One thing to describe it -POWER. [b]...when an f-5 flies over ur house, u can ignore it. When f-16 flies over my place, my middle finger goes up. =D ...
YES! I agree completely, got a taste of it last yr.Originally posted by Black Aces:Wait till you hear the sound of those F-15 engines. One thing to describe it -POWER. Yep, I watched the F-15s every single day streak to the top from PLAB. No other aircraft I watched from my home could ever climb almost vertical save F-16s. In fact, after the F-15s have flown off, and the F-5s follow, the F-5s seem lousy in comparison.Originally posted by Shotgun:I've heard the F-15E's roar overhead before. 2 years ago to be exact.
Perhaps it was some exercise or something. I was on my way to the airport when i saw this. 2 Strike Eagles. Low altitude, FAST. One peeled off gently, 1 or 2 gs perhaps. Lead eagle carried on, later pulled up, estimated about 4-5 gs perhaps? Previous eagle seemed to carry on in a designator turn, while the attacking eagle half cut back the opposite direction it was heading.
I assume the lead was dropping the LGB, while his wingman was designating the target.
Fantastic stuff, wished i recorded it tho. And this all happened in Singapore.
Racket?! Thats an insult!Originally posted by Shotgun:U shud hear the racket they make in their transsonic phase.... and the boom that follows... wooO!
Hey sound isn't a ideal choice in war, u should have check out the avonics onboard the F15. Its latest radar could detect more than 25NM compared to our F16. And if they combined to fly together, they conquer the sky. Try to search for the Wall of eagles!Originally posted by SBS1908B:Racket?! Thats an insult! It is much louder than that.
well, if its shooting at you, its the enemyOriginally posted by cleong:The shape of the aircraft is only one of the factors in IFF (Identification Friend or Foe), the radar signature also plays a part as do any electronics emissions that are produced by a bogey.
There was a period of time that both the RSAF and RMAF operated F-5 Tigers and Skyhawks. I would say it would be harder to tell the difference between a Singaporean and Malaysian F-5, compared to identifying betwen a MIG-29/SU-30 and an F-15.
If only it was so easy!Originally posted by sgFish:well, if its shooting at you, its the enemy
Our (Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aerospace)) F-5 upgrade programme includes installation of modern avionics which matches the capabilities of advanced front-line aircraft like the F-16s and F-18s, providing you a cost-effective solution for developing realistic training platform for air crews converting to front-line squadrons.
