Components of Recce and Commando Training

Talking to a platoonmate who used to be a storeman at Pasir Ris Camp,I found out that the standard of training for our Cdo formation has really dropped.In Gedankens times and up until 2003 thye were still doing the 72km route march,now the longest distance they do is a 48 km route march.That is a gigantic drop in standard from what you would expect. of Commandos.
Given that the 72km route march was cut from Cdo training,are there elements of our SAF such as LRRP and Recce who still engage in long distance marches? -
Really? Cos a friend of mine did an 80+ km route march not too long ago. LOL!

In Route marches, "distance" is sometimes not a significant factor... it is the pac or time-taken to complete a certain distance that is important and significant.
One won't need to march 70km+ to attack an objective. War over already lah. -

Nothing extraordinary for recce. Emphasis on navigation and signals. You're either strong in stealth techniques or have to be strong in enduring interrogations.

That time carnival at the bay, was talking to one sniper in his ghillie suit. Then halfway talking, this bunch JC girls came over want to take photo with him.
So... this happy sniper got to take photo with this whole bunch of jc girls with their arms round his shoulder, holding his arms... I stand beside him... jealous sia. hahaha. -

I am just wandering what are the types of training that our NS boys are going through? But I think SAF is moving away from routine training mode to more realistic type of training.
Anyone still heard that guards have a 10km FBO run, but during me time (7 years ago), that was not executed. Instead it was incorporated into a field exercise where we are giving an objective and en-route timing, if we fail to reach the objective within the given timing the punishment was up to the instructorsÂ…Â….. and that was during the conversion course.
Further, in training school, the topo exercise was more than a route march. Most of the time the check points are located totally opposite to each other within the exercise area. If you need 5 check points to pass and all are located opposite to each other within a 20 x 20km exercise area (not local). So it is anyone guest what is the average distance covered within a 3 day topo exercise. -
