  I once read this book, Resurrection Day. In the book, the Cuban Missile Crisis became a full scale atomic war. The Americans were nuked badly and the Russian s were totally wasted. In any case, the British provided relief ops to the Americans, but they were plotting to make America part of their empire once more.
