Its an interesting M-16 based, belt fed LMG.

Word has it that the idea kinda died since the designers failed to deliever them or something.
But if the Shrike does gets widely adopted it might replace the Ultimax as the lightest LMG in the world.

Americans are so in love with the M-16. They must've invented hundreds of things you can do with a M-16. The variations range from pistols to belt feed to god-knows-what-else...
There's also one version that fires little belt-fed .22.
It's hard to imagine another weapon that can inspire so much imagination.

Honestly speaking, the M-16 is one of the best combat proven designs. Properly maintained, its any soldier's best friend. Of course, as technology improves, better stuff can be made out of any old design.
Personally, my only complaint with the SAR-21 over the M-16 is that its so frigging heavy. Haha. I don't like heavy weapons... i'd be happier if they just gave me a pistol. -

Well think shrike will not get widely adopted. As it look good and cool, but there is articles on gun magzine that did actual shooting with it and reported encounter jamming. Imagine they are using the gun in control environment and in the best maintence , and it still jam. i think that the SAF should use the M249 saw
because the Ultimax 100 mostly uses the 30 round mag...
and if they use the 100 rd mag ... it always jams the gun...
normally Saws are used to provide supressing fire or covering fire,
how can a 30 round mag provide full covering fire for a squad

lol!!! might as well use the M249 SAW!!!! Ultimax 100 has the frequent problems of being jammed when using the 100 rd mags.....even relaoding the mags require special tools......
