I do believe that we are militarily stronger than them, but the margin isn't much. Over the past 15 years, on average our defence budget is like 1.5 to 1.67 times that of Malaysia's.
From this figure, it is not hard to see that Singapore's superiority is minor, not that huge. Although we may be more efficient than them in using money, that still does not give us much of an edge.
If you look at the number of tanks we have as compared to say Taiwan or Yugoslavia, we are not really that good. There are many countries in the world that are ahead of us.
So overall, we are indeed stronger than Malaysia, but the difference is a small one, such that it is not sufficient to ensure military success in the event war breaks out.
Singaporean must be aware that we have been referred to as little red dot, and our sovereignty and territory have been challenged time and again.
We need to be confident that we will win to stand firm in safeguarding our interests. We have the reason to be confident and such confidence should not be taken as arrogance. -
There's no such thing as definitely. Singapore is indeed a little red dot that can be assualted from all sides, and we do not have the land mass to slow an invasion force.
If we didn't succeed in fanning out our forces early to implement the Forward Defense, we'd be boxed up and the fight would be very not in our favour. -
Thats why we have the E-2C which also acts as forward observers.
You would be dead once the enemy troops gather at Johor / Batam / Riau.
Once the troops is at Southern-most johor , pre-emptive strike is necessary.
If not , once they get inside SG , SG will be a hell-hole.
Imagine the amount of civilians killed in an urban battle.
We can't wait for people to attack.
It is less then a few minutes , so close to the Border.
I believe the E-2C Hawkeye has the ability to monitor ground movement with ease.
Once they have , say give or take 20,000 troops on your soil.
and attacking key areas.
With the serviceman UNABLE to reach their camps in time to draw arms.
Singapore is gone. -
I believe every country has standby troops available in times of crisis.

CNY will definitely have to rotate a few suay zengs to standby one. There is always a standby force.

It is true.. although the best is not to fight with them but we must be ready at all times. About the E-2 i hope SG gets the Global Hawk quick... It will do our recon force alot of good.

Any sustained artillery bombardment will pretty much flatten your entire country not to say totally disable the infra structure of your country. But lucky for us at the Borneo island. We are quite autonomous in our policy. We can sustain ourselves economically and militarilly. But i guess u guys wont be seeing any of our units in any event of war. We pride ourselves here for Jungle warfare.. not urban like yours. During the ethnic clashes in teh 1960's.. we operate like your Gurkha units in keeping the malays and malay soldiers from clashing with the chinese , and also the other way round.
i think war is bad for economics. Bad economics means no money. N the world revolves around money. Sg n Mal are pretty much the same.. Malaya pretty much took Sg n Borneo islands in to balance the ratio of Malay to Chinese during the post colonial times. I say war is for losers... i wanna make money

On top of regular army units they have in the past decade also established airborne units in Johore.
So even if we implement our much vaunted "Forward Defense", it will not be a walk in the park. The minute we mobilise, their intel will also tell them to mobilise. So it is a matter of how quickly we can get into Johore before their main forces arrive. We would be up against some of their crack airborne troops in Johore. -

First thing MY do not have much arty pieces , 2nd thing is that if any large movement of troop including asset like armour and arty units could not be undetectable by satellite becos such large scale movement is practically impossible to hide, 3rd thing when something is going on, there will always be a lot of electronics traffic , that is inevitable for any large scale mobilisation. Lastly , you better hope you dun hit any US and ANZAC forces in SG!!!!!
Unless you could take out all our airfields and all the emergency runways, there will alway be sufficient a/c to bomb the hell out any troop concentration.
As for Yom Kippur war, Israeli actually detected the large troop concentartion over in Egypt border but they assumed it as one those training exe, but SG have learn that lesson , many years ago, we detected that the MY and Indon will be airdropping troops over Johor inan exe and we get into high alert likewise the time where Israeli PM visits, so we could certainly have the mean to do so, it was reported that we have one of the most sophisticated Intel asset in SEA or is it Asia.
So only way MY could be successful in immobilise us is that we totally unable to detect such sneak attack!!!
So is it possible???
Does MY want to risk it since SG have both qty as well quality advantage in all asset????
Becos the table could turn around very badly for MY!!!!
If all thing fail, we still have US becos we are afterall almost like a non-NATO ally of US , it will be big mistake for MY to try anything funny becos MY might end up like Iraq!!!!! -

I think in the coming years, we cannot afford to always look upon MY as our sole competitor or even threat.Our equipment purchases have shown that we are more concerned with matters beyond our tiny archipelago....

Malaysian army is famous for her jungle fighting tactics. They had vast experience in clamping down the communist from 1960-1990s. They are suppose to be better in the jungle warfare compare to our friendly Nation X, which has no jungle at all!
Thus, I think SAF do a lot of case study in Imperial Jap army warfare tactics in the WW2 on how to defeat the british army through mobility. -

In fact, the British actually have more manpower than the Japanese forces..
In the end, poor planning and organisation was what failed the British I think..

Correct me if i am wrong. But the British was over confident of thier Sole navel Battleship and expected a Naval assault hence replacing ALL thier AA guns.. thus succumbed to devastating airial assault and also didnt anticipate the Japs to come down so fast on thier asses. I forgot whats the name of the Battle ship that guarded Sg but it was an embarrasment to the British navy.. just like the HMS Hood.. sunk by the Bismarck with a direct hit to thier unprotected Ammo storage..
