"special" field rations during ICT

curious to know what the other combat units especially armored unit bring to the field since storage space is no problem.
for our inf 84 section during typical field ex. The following are common SOP items carried by second gunner in his canister or by the section lobos.
1 Packet "ang hoon" or "drum" (last resort then open)
A few packs of ciggie per person (personal/shared)
A few packet maggie mee
a few small cans of cocktail sausages or spam
1-2 bottles of coke
3in1 nestle coffeemix
3in1 'supercoffeemix' mai pian
butane fuel and messtins
Dog biscuit(stored in personal sbo pouch last resort then open)
Our section has been know to bring "bak kua" and sometimes stash a small bottle of cheap whiskey but we never let other section in the company know. twisted: -
We used to pack tin food and other stuff into the ops boxs everytime we went overseas.
With scouts, can pack lots of stuff on the jeeps. But seldom got time to eat. Biscuits are good as can eat on the move. Powder drinks to motivate us and to keep us going with the high sugar content. -

When i was attached to a reservist unit, the CSM would usually send out a rover to tah pao for the whole HQ coy.
Of course it was ATEC, so we had to practice 'Tactical consumption of rations', in the OC's own words.... -
this year in-camp, a group of drivers brought an ice-box filled with steamboat ingredients and had steamboat dinner in the middle of 3D/2N battalion excercise.
i understand that that had BBQ during last year in-camp......... -

anyone know where i can buy or order by bulk those satay chicken pack in those combat ration issued last time??? not the current satay chicken pasta thing... just satay chicken.. i missed it alot... one of the only few things that taste like outside food lor...

Pre 9/11, we have to dig trenches during defense ex and will stay out there for a few nights.... My neighbour trench every year never fail to bring something "nice". (we have fixed defense sector lah..) He will cook up nice meals every night and we will go over makan.. of coz we have driver's help to "pre dump" supplies at ex area.. and all cooking done tactically.. -
just finish one of my high key icts few weeks back....had all the usual can food and stuff....but one of the highlights was the bak kuah....i tell ur guys..bak kuah and bread never tasted so good boy....
and yah la...i from armour lah...the stories your hear abt us guys bringing can goodies and stuff are all true,,,and more!
i remember our atec bfrore we orded....we dumped all our combart rations in the bunk(saved for one box..to show to the atec guys in case they asked)...
it was a full scaled canned food party man!we bgt like every flavour of tuna, hot dog and curry available!all the longan and lycee cans went into the gas cannister boxes....we hid the ice cooler near the jerry can area...
i never ate so well outfield bfore man...haha...
we even had some bak chiang as it was the season for it....
but of course , all eaten and disposed of very tactically....
but strange to say,the best meal i even eaten was made of army rations,,,,
was in aussieland for ex wallaroo...was out for a long outfield excerise...all combat rations...and cold ones at tat, as the excersie was dammed packed..no time to cook...and we guys already suffering...as we not allowed to bring canned food into aussieland...and tis is coming from us ppl who nver ate combat rations back in spore...
so finally, on the last day morning...we heard the excerscise cut radio msg,,,,we took out the messtin....cooked 2 packets of maggi, with a packet of the saf cold rice poured in, with a package of malay vegetables(i think), and a package of curry mutton...all in a mess tin...
in spore, u shoot me i also wun eat the mutton or vegetable...but that morning...i tell ur guys...thats the the best!
