I think you are right...Originally posted by tankee1981:I think the statistics for our SAF company is not complete yet. So if anyone have any more to add please fill free to do so. I am intrested to know exactly what a typical SAF infantry company consists of and subsequently how it works. Thanks
PS: I have heard from my former OC that in the future the infantry will be able to ride in Bronco to battle. These Bronco will be more armoured than the normal transport version and equipped with a GMPG on top of the front driver's cabin. The GPMG gunner presumely the vehicle commander will operate the MG with an open hatch. Can anyone verify this?![]()
Actually I have speculated abt this almost 2 years ago here when I realised the large number of BV-206 + Bronco ATTC that we are going to have.Originally posted by Delta 5:I think you are right...
It was reported in JDW that Singapore is receiving 500 Broncos of all versions. Thus it is reasonable to expect that a large proportion will comprise of troop carriers with applique armour.
By the way you want to start a thread on our armoured force's composition from platoon to battalion level? I from infantry so not well-versed in armour...When training FIBUA and FOFO near Sungei Gedong we passed by scores of armoured vehicles and troopers... The similarity between us was that we were all sweaty and tired out. Both sides gave tired grins and shook heads when passed by each other... Haha shacked out man

Yea yeaOriginally posted by gary1910:Actually I have speculated abt this almost 2 years ago here when I realised the large number of BV-206 + Bronco ATTC that we are going to have.
We dun need almost 800 vehicles for just logistic support!!!!
One Bronco could carry 15 men + 1 driver, so 500x 15= 7.5K of soldiers.
One Infantry unit is abt 600men, abt 12.5 Bn ~4 SIBs
I.e able to support to 2 CADs.
So future CADs will be 2 "motorised" infantry Bde with Bronco ATTC and one mechanised infantry Bde.
Replacing the V200s in future?Originally posted by I_love_my_toilet:Yea yea
1 X Bn wif bronco transporting AI has been tested out le.
They even ORDed !
Most senang armoured Bn maybe![]()
True true.Originally posted by gary1910:Well , Bronco ATTC troop carrier version is more like a APC than IFV, so should not be considered for our mechanised forces.
When our infantry units need to be transported to the frontline, we will of course try to keep them as fresh as possible , so Bronco is a good option, it is armoured up to 7.62 and against shell splinter etc.
So when near to the frontline, I think thye will debus and fight like any foot soldier.
Yup, I was the pl runner.Originally posted by fudgester:The platoon's radio set is carried by the platoon runner.
Well, it makes perfect sense to have good amphibious capability.Originally posted by tvdog:Broncos are amphibious, right?
So if we have such a large force of amphibious armoured transports, it can only mean....
Well, dunno what kind of preparation you need for the Bionix, but the M113 can actually "swim".Originally posted by fudgester:So is the Bionix. From what I've read, the Bionix can handle depths of up to 1m unprepared.... with full preparation, it's completely amphibious.
I dunno about the M113 Ultras.... though I won't be surprised if they have the capability as well.
If you're going to take the war to the enemy's shores, you're going to have to do amphibious and airborne assaults. You can't expect our LSTs to carry everything.
Sounds like Armour Infantry?Originally posted by gary1910:Well , Bronco ATTC troop carrier version is more like a APC than IFV, so should not be considered for our mechanised forces.

Sounds alike - but there are fundamental differences - with armoured units, the armoured vehicles are part of the unit. But for Infantry and Guards units, the Broncos can be attached to the unit when the mission requires it.Originally posted by 84mmrr:Sounds like Armour Infantry?
Yes, but you'll see frequently that the Section 2IC is a L/CPL and some of the men are CPLs. Especially in the reserve units where they post people in from all over. Kinda stupid. They should just promote the 2IC to cpl to compensate.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I believe that a CPL in the Section should be 2IC, preferably one of the M203 gunners.Ease of movement in CQB, when u can split it to two fire teams.
There is the special SAR 21 with the 3x sharpshooter scope.Originally posted by insouciant:Yes, but you'll see frequently that the Section 2IC is a L/CPL and some of the men are CPLs. Do they still have sharpshooters with the new SAR21 units? Since everyone essentially has a scope.
