  not all are iraqis of course ... some are US troops, the ones that looks like bleached number 4 patterns are the latest US issue fatigues ... sort of "one pattern fits all" for all terrain .... supposedly suitable for jungle, desert, woodland all in one ...

  nope ... the iraqi special forces get M4s from the americans ....
  the iraqi national guards use the AKs .... (though if it's new, it's probably chinese type 56 clones )

  cos iraq has plenty of greens too ... it's not wholly a desert country ... the land surrounding the euphrates river is very fertile, plenty of greens, then there are the swamps in the south, and rolling green plains and mountains to the north ... that's why saddam's army uses olive green uniforms too ...
