MLRS foR Singapore?

I have heard that we already have MRLS in the artillery. They are unguided rockets instaed of missiles. But i can't confirm this. Anyway do we need MLRS or short-ranged surface to surface missile in the near future. Reason being that our neighbours have already got Astros(Malaysia) or intending to buy some(Indonesia)

To me the most important thing is to get countermeasures against the MLRS. Sure, our Vipers can take out the launchers once they fire (and expose their position in the process), but once the rockets are in the air, there isn't much you can do about it. -
There should be 1 battalion of MLRS per combined arms division to add bite to the tube artillery...

why not? it will be lovely if they are in our arsenal. Definitely must have goodie in achieving a psychological triumph over potential adversary.

I believe the best large MLRS(200mm~300mm) are from the US, Russia and Israel, all their unguided rocket come with trajectory correction which improve their CEP to almost the same level as tube artillery. -
If we can afford it, sure.
I personally think there are other areas to spend the money though. - body armour, pistols, more alternate runways, better anti-arty radar, scatterable munitions from our aircraft, more apaches, etc. -

a battery of MLRS in southern johor would be a strategic weapon, as all of singapore would be within range ... including all the built up areas, HDB estates, bases etc, but a battery of MLRS in northern singapore would still only be a tactical weapon ....

Dude, I was just pointing out the sheer panic shown by some people about the certain hardware owned by our neighbour. Seems like that sacarstic remark was lost to you and you chose to take it personally even tho it was not aimed at you.

MLRS! wow.. it will be quite a sight if it was fired. US version seems damn sophisticated but only 12 rockets per truck. Am i right? 6 per launcher. I like russian stuffs though cheap and ALOT =D they seem to like things in huge numbers.

we should not purchase something just because chaps up north got it .... like i said in an above post, MLRS in the hands of the northern fellows are a strategic weapon, a similar platform in our hands would only be a tactical one, what we need would be a similar asymetric response, to have a similar effect, we need something that'll threaten the whole of the peninsula ... we should perhaps be looking at cruise missiles, on a mobile platform, similar to what china is currently deploying against taiwan, so that we'll retain a counter-strike capability in the event of a surprise attack ...

MLRS hitting sg is different , most places are packed with population.
Singapore has a high population density. Thats why they use Primus , which is more accurate.
By using MLRS , they can have effectively kill more civilians. Probably will miss our vital locations.Then again , if a country were to murder our civilian indiscriminately , we will definitely do the same back.
Ultimately , it is peace which we are hoping for. -

Well.... civilians naturally get caught in crossfire during war. Considered as collateral damage. Thats why we have air raid shelters~

Mi like cheap things too... u guys watch the movie "HERO" b4?? remember the raining arrow??? that is very cheap right?? better if it is fire arrow.......but of coz not very useful to attack flat but in forest still not bad i think....

I am thinking more in terms of the MLRS being part of the combined armed divisions. Tube artillery have the benefit of accuracy and now mobility in our case of the Primus. However MLRS have the benefit of high speed of attack as the rockets/missiles are travelling at a much faster speed as compared to shells. Another benefit is the added range of the weapons delivered. If we combine these two forms of artillery we will have the best of both worlds! We don't need as much MRLS as compared to Primus. We can just get a handful to supplement the more numerous conventional tube artillery and at the same time create the psychological impact on our enemies.
