Progress on SM1's replacement?

Anyone have kept up to date with the development of SM1's replacement? It have been some time already. Hoping to have my hands on the new vehicle during my ICT.

So many SM1s to replace... I really wonder when can this replacement happen.
I'm waiting to see the new tank also. -
Hopefully got rat repellents in the tank crew compartment. Can't stand seeing rodents run about while you do BOS.

No many people know that its not easy to procure a tank to replace the SM1. Current available tanks are simply too heavy ..they sink easily in Armor training area..whereas for MBTs.. too bulky for realistic usage for SAF urban and jungle doctrine

Sg is developing armoured fighting vehicle to replace SM1fr US Defense News 28.04.04.

2.My guess is,as BIONIX .BRONCO and PRIMUS,the new tank is bascially a Sg local product.BIONIX is the only foreign vehicle in the 4 finalists of US MAV selection in few year ago..So,Sg can make the new light tank,most likely equipped with remote control multi- launcher SPIKE ,among other weapons.At least One version is made by ST.
3 to 5 years to develop one to replace SM1.Will have high mobility,
no direct fire capability but with precision strike....

Remote control multi- launcher SPIKE shall be stored in armoured compartment separate from crews compartments.Perferably,vertical launch to hit target faster.
4.I think the new tank missiles sys looks like the spec in US Non Line of Sight – Launch System (NLOS-LS).Precision Attack Missiles (PAM) is a modular, multimission, guided missile with two trajectories — a direct-fire or fast-attack trajectory, and a boost-glide trajectory. The missile will receive target information prior to launch, and can receive and respond to target location updates during flight.
4A.The Precision Attack Missiles (PAM) will support laser-designated, laser-anointed and autonomous operation modes and will be capable of transmitting near-real-time information in the form of target imagery prior to impact. Precision Attack Missiles (PAM) is being designed to defeat heavy armored targets.
4B.Loitering Attack Missiles (LAM) will provide imagery for area search, surveillance, targeting and battle damage assessment (BDA), and could serve as an airborne radio transmission platform for other system missiles, as well identifying high-payoff targets for missile attack. Loitering Attack Missiles (LAM) will be capable of flying to extended ranges with significant loiter time at its maximum range4C.Loitering Attack Missiles LAM's LADAR seeker provides three-dimensional analysis of potential targets. The LAM vehicle is 62 inches long and weighs 117 pounds, and can search a wide area or loiter for 30 minutes at a range of 70 kilometers. Two-way data links on LAM will provide for re-tasking while in-flight and down-linking of images.
5.Precision Attack Missiles
Why US stress laser guided missiles(4A) which in most occassions are not possible and will put Scouts in high risks.Better use GPS etc to guide.Does the SPIKE fit the bill?
6.Loitering Attack Missiles
ST has not disclosed she has been developing this.But I think the aerodynamics of ST is comparable to US counterparts in small platform,like UAV,if not better than them.So I will not be surprised if ST announces in few years time that she has Loitering Attack Missiles .

This was discussed a long time ago - there is an article on it - 3 different chassis proposed and 2 different gun types.
Not too sure of the status or progress though. -
I wonder how a light tank will look like when it doesn't have a main gun for direct fire! Certainly will look very unconventional if it is only being equipped with missiles. Maybe it will look more like a AA platform than a true light tank. By the way, anyone have any simulated images of how our SM1 replacement may look like?

But this is just one of the options reported, as someone say that the new tank will cost USD7mils per unit!!!
Fxxk, I would like to see it as UDLP's Thunderbolt with a twin Spike launcher or better yet LAHAT missiles in it!!!! -
I saw the Thunderbolt video at the stall in the last Asian Aerospace. Pretty impressive! But i am not too sure if its derivative(a new turret and missiles) will be acquire as its original have been out for a long time. But if it is acquired then it will be good news.

Even if we order a replacement for the SM1 today, I seriously doubt you'll get the chance to play with it on your upcoming ICT.
The tanks will go to the NSFs 1st, before re-equipping the NSmen units. Same with the SAR21s. How many of the older reserve units are equipped with the SAR21? -

How about 120mm main gun heavy tank firepower in a( M8 "Thunderbolt" AGS) light tank and is C-130 and larger aircraft airland transportable and parachute air-droppable?

Actually we should have just built the M8 Light Tank under license in Singapore...
It would be a hassle-free project compared with designing a new tank from scratch and the SAF would be in possession of a light yet powerful armoured platform... Had we followed this route the New M8 Light Tanks would already be in series production and could potentially replace all present tank types (AMX-13, AMX-10PAC-90 and Centurion Mk 13) by 2008, given that production would have perhaps began in 2002. -
Actually it was offered to Taiwan and Thailand even licensed produced ever since it was cancelled by the US but so far no taker.
It become private venture project, I read they even leased it( 6 were delivered to the US army) from the US army so to have trial oversea, that was after the deal was cancelled.
