  Reminds me of this...
  
  UH-1H/Y is given the name Huey?
  
  The Huey looks dif from the UH in some manner
  
  Now aft checking Bell Heli website, confused...

  Even I remembered the drama Air Force back in 1988,
  
  the UH-1H is longer... Huey smaller..
  
  Is it true?

  In the past , RSAF used three types of Bell UH-1s
  
  UH-1B, UH-1H, and UH-1N (Bell 212)
  
  UH-1B is smaller size , and used mainly for training purpose.
  
  UH-1H is used for assault transport , light gunships ( with GPMGs mounted at side of the doors ) or heavy gunships ( miniguns pod and rockets ) ,
  
  UH-1N ( Bell 212) (longest in length ) , painted with civilian colours ( red and white) is for Search and Rescue missions.

  The Huey is initially known as HU-1 : Helicopter Utility - 1
  
  And hence the name HUey.....
  
  Later on, it was designated as UH-1.
  
  The UH-1N or Bell 212s are the ones that "rescue" the ppl from the cable car.
  
  fitted with a winch and got twin engines.

  "all" the UH-1 series are collectively known as Huey....

  UH-1 H used to be HU-1 (Helicopter Utility) hence the name Huey.
