Time for one ?
I don't think its ideal to send SAF troops , when dying/injured to a civilian hospital , should be a designated place/area whereby they should have a proper and huge military hospital , with helipads and airfied . -
Where to build? Is there a need for it?

Haha .. how many types of injuries you can have? Anyways, I heard SGH is usually chosen instead of CGH cos of the facilities and personnel at SGH are more equipped to handle wider variety of cases.

So let see you are proposing that you build a big hospital full of doctors and nurses with all brand new equipment, just to treat a few training injured few ?
If in war time, this hospital is of no use ! why ? because war time, there is requirement of field hospital which is where the war is so they can treat injured soldiers fast. In war time, there will not be enough ambulances or helicopters to even air lift the injuried to a hospital that way back. Also if that hospital is 100% a military hospital, that may make it a very clear target for enemy to destory it or destory it. -
U never hear of Combat Surgical Hospitals?
Army is more than guns and tanks. We have DISCOM and other support units which are activated when needed. During times of peace no need to set up what ppl commonly call MASH units although they train as hard as any other combat ready unit. -

Remember the hospital massacre in Singapore by the japanese during WWII?
If we were to keep the civilian hospital away from military hospital
then most likely , the civilian hospital will be spared from a massacre
A field hospital may not be ideal and have all the equipment ready , there are many forms of sickness and illness , serviceman can suffer from , a field hospital may not be have equipment able to handle troops who might be suffering from gas attack , to even something as simple as a bullet wound ,
or even be able to help a soldier whose leg has been blown off.
A military hospital would be able to cater specifically to the needs of soldiers , a soldier's welfare is the most important. -

Just imagine the amount of casualties during wartime , civilians inside and fighting with soldiers for spaces??
It's endangering the lives of civilians as well..
We need not build it in such a way , you put the words "'MILITARY HOSPITAL" on top and make it visible for the enemy to see it from his fighter jet,duh
For example , a field hospital , even during wartime , might not be able to handle the large amount of soldiers who would be injured , even if they are, i doubt their ability to shelter the injured troops ...
Those field hospitals can't shield the troops from heavy gunfire, when bombs start raining down upon it , i don't think its safe for them .
A field hospital would also be vulnerable , since enemy knows that the troops inside are injured , we can also have a underground medical facility as well.
It's also unsafe to keep injured troops at the battleground , better if they were safely inside a medical facility , how many % of troops can fight after surviving a bullet round, rifles are getting stronger ...? so its better to bring them back to SG as well..
Even if you did managed to treat those troops at your field hospital , you are going to waste manpower to guard your field hospital , cause most likely it will be a hindrance when the troops are planning to advance , troops who are injured are also more likely to be demoralised as well. -
in case of large casualty during training, the civilian hospital is destinated to take on them, and to spread the load if possible to the rest... if epidemic starts, one hospital is reserved.

Our Government has a defense budget of $9 billion dollars .
So the problem does not lies with the cost , but whether they are willing to do it... -
Not to mention those medics are in a war zone and are already feeling stressed , how to operate on injured troops? , with the advent of specially built hospitals , medical workers can work at ease , so in my opinion , a underground military hospital is way to go , after all , RSAF dominates the skies , and singapore has so many helicopters that it could even spare some to other countries like Philippines , so there shouldn't be any problems.

uhh... actually in the 1970s up to late 80s, the old Changi hospital near Changi village was designated as a SAF hospital. I know, because in the mid 80s I was a PL Sgt and one of my chaps was involved in a motor bike accident just outside camp. The OC let him book out officially and he was in uniform and just unlucky to be hit by a lorry. Because he was in uniform when he was hit and because he had a valid time-off, he was taken straight to the old CGH under SAF charge. I went to visit him as a sort of welfare thingy.

Boy ! in war time, you think if you are shot, you will be treated like king and send to SGH ! Sorry wake you up hello welcome back to the real world. 1st every available troops is require to fight in the front line, if they send you to the field hospital, you are already lucky, so don't push your lucky and ask them to space more men just they can bring you further back another 50km more so you can be in civilian hospital which already fill with civilians. You think army will spare you a vehicle or heli just that you like civilian hospital and doctor more. Also all vehicles is moving forward to the front line, helicopters and everything. Even they spare you a helicopter or vehicle, with every things rushing forward, you think they let you block the advance do you can go there other direction ? You think they clear you a flight path when the sky is so crowded so that you fly backward ? Next the moment war break out, you think roads are open, most roads are no passable due to abandon or damage vehicles or block by fallen buildings. You think there is any way a vehicle can even reach from battle field to way back hospital ?
Even if singapore have helicopter, they are troops helicopter 1st then medic helicopter... Even if they are medic helicopter their task is to take you to the nearest field hospital..... and not to civilian hosptial for because they got cuter nurses.
