can't they land on any camp parade squares near CGH?Originally posted by HENG@:ok. i've just asked him. he says that CGH doesn't have any facilities for helis to land, which is why heli-evac cases go to SGH
i think that would be highly unfeasible. if that was the practice, at the same time you make the decision to helievac, you'll also have to call the camp in question to make sure their LZ is clear, and that a vehicle will be available to send the casualty to CGH.Originally posted by hmsg:can't they land on any camp parade squares near CGH?
do u know TTSH was full house at that timeOriginally posted by bcoy:Why not TTSH? There's a helipad on the roof - with a direct lift to the emergency department at B1.
That's the old CGH lah .. hahaOriginally posted by quivalen:in addition, the camp nearest to CGH would be selarang, with hendon nearby. they're still at least ten minutes away from CGH by road.
What's so important than saving a life? Even parade also must fark off for the chopper. And those RP can direct the chopper to the ground.Originally posted by quivalen:i think that would be highly unfeasible. if that was the practice, at the same time you make the decision to helievac, you'll also have to call the camp in question to make sure their LZ is clear, and that a vehicle will be available to send the casualty to CGH.
haha no lah, i wasn't thinking about the old changi hospital - if that were the case the chopper land in hendon then can straightaway carry the casualty to hospital - no need ambulance. ;-)Originally posted by Icemoon:That's the old CGH lah .. haha
I think the nearest camp should be Bedok Camp where pple take IPPT. 3SIR (still there?) has a parade square with the H in middle for chopper to land.
parade can "fark off" yeah, but what if there are 10+ vehicles parked there, as is not-infrequently the case in my camp? can you guarantee that you can find and wake up enough drivers, and get them from the mt line to the parade square and drive off the vehicles within a few minutes notice?Originally posted by Icemoon:What's so important than saving a life? Is this fella joking?Originally posted by touch_heart87:MMM.... the sudden death of the sergent is becoz of he running n faint n hit his head....fall forward...i knew it coz i was there at the moment...![]()
Yeah .. the only time something more permanent is blocking the parade square is during alert red standby and exercise moving out when vehicles are parked. I speak from xp .. after spending my NS in that camp.Originally posted by quivalen:what i'm saying is, there may be situations where the LZ is obstructed and cannot be easily cleared within the time frame required - "parade fark off and RP can direct the chopper to the ground" is a simplification.
er... EH is Hu?Originally posted by Shotgun:Err EH? Who is that?? Unit/Coy/Platoon/Sect???
I see... no wonder.
Then I feel SAF should construct such facilities nearby CGH to land helicopters. SAF owes it to the soldiers to give them timely medical assistance, and give their troops every minute possible especially in a life and death scenario.
I remember the case of 2SG Hu, (Combat Survival Course Drowning Case) was evaced to CGH though... no helicopters that round?
