  it might be so, many many years back....
  
  but nowadays maybe due to lower birethrates, less male enlisting, it is long gone...
  
  my fren being not only the only male child but also the only male in the family as his dad passed away, got enlisted into the cdo...

  They say they want you, and you get a letter telling you that you'll be posted to 1 CDO.
  
  It's as simple as that - knowing the requirements isn't going to make a jot of difference unless you're a regular.

  honestly, if there is some fixed criteria for selection, i can't tell what it is. you can say yes you want to be a commando or you can say no you don't, you can do 20 pullups or you can do 0, you can have straight As or you can drop out of ITE - either way you might still end up in hendon.
  
  if you've yet to enlist and are one of those spec-ops-fetishists who is dying to get himself into the commandos then i really wouldn't bother trying to figure it out if i were you.
