Re thread (A1): Pay ministers millions of dollars so they will not corrupt LOL can we buy intergrity?
A person who serves the public, teachers, judges, policemen, firemen, ministers, MPs i believe has to have integrity, sincereity, selflessness and some degree of compassion for the people they serve. I do not think such traits and characteristics can be bought or even be kept in line using the rule of law because as soon as the cat is away, the mouse comes out to play. I think what the PAP ministers agreeing with each other and patting each other's backs saying that they need to be paid top dollar for their public service so that they wouldn't corrupt is more or less saying that they would DEFINITELY corrupt if good money is not paid to them, isn't it??? So how did we get conned by those words "We need to pay our ministers well so that they would not corrupt" ??? Did we just accept a form of excuse for the mediocrity handed to us??? LOL cos many singaporeans believe the excuse given. (at least 60% do) Now go ask yourself really can all these qualities be bought? I do not think so, if u think they could be bought, then u might actually be paying a bunch of crooks to act with integrity, isn' it? What do u think? To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity - Douglas Adams |
"If the annual salary of the Minister of Information, Communication and Arts is only $500,000, it may pose some problems when he discuss policies with media CEOs who earn millions of dollars because they need not listen to the minister's ideas and proposals. Hence, a reasonable payout will help to maintain a bit of dignity." - MP Lim Wee Kiak apologises for comments on pay [IMG URL] |

fixing opposition parties; actually just creating an authoritarian, monolithic political state, with little or no political vibrancy/choice... (YouTube; LHL: "fix the opposition") |
Do Singaporeans know that from Day 1 of independence, LKY has planned for a dynastic succession?
Do Singaporeans know the elite class is expressly formed and led by LKY?

People with power do things as they like. I don't have anything against caste system provided it's not rigid and one cannot change when it's needed.

Very soon the elite of Sinkapore will be like the Brahmins and the poor and needy will become like the Dalits, the "Untouchables".
May I recommend Michael Barr's "The ruling elite of Singapore" to you? The link to purchase the EPUB format is provided in my earlier post.
