I do not think that the term " talent" should be removed, the term should honor any toms and dicks who managed to sneak into singapore as a talent. By using fake certificates or a 3rd world sub standard kind of U certificate to come in here and be PR is indeed a talent. Not many singaporeans can do that...mine me.

No bad lah, at least gone down the drain, when i was younger, i use to pick coins on drain, unlike in taiwan, funny how Singaporean dun like to pick dropped coins in the drain. There is a fortune if you are willing to look out for it.It is place of wealth, gold mountain where drains and carparks are filled with money. That's was what i said to those PRC, viet and thai gals before getting them here.
On the contrary, it is good for Singapore to go down the drain, if not, it would never wake up and change, so i guess that going down the drain will some how restructure or change singapore for the good.
But then first thing first, we need to go down altogether, then it can work, if half go down, half still enjoying and refuse to go down, then it is really a waste, which is what is happening now.

companies prefer foriegners cos they r more hardworking, can accept lower pay and arent hot-headed, and self-centred ppl, something many bosses perceive singaporeans to be. by recruiting foriegners, many companies feel they r making their own lives easier. for them, why deal with a demanding, loud-mouthed singaporean when i can hire cheap, friendly and obedient worker who can do the job twice better?(mind you, apparently foriegners r perceived to be more hardworking, and that may be true)

sad truth is our economy need them more than us because at the top end you have globally savvy executives and at the lower end you have those who are willing to endure hardship for peanuts (peanuts to us but not bad for them given the different basis of comparison)
in addition, some of these new immigrants will be able to attract their cohorts as well as investments into our economy, this will create more jobs
thus those that we entrusted our futures to chose to build more sustainability into our country than allow it to become a Penang within a decade given the speed of change worldwide, cant say i blame them for it
the new singapore will leave you behind if you do not shift your mindset, you cant talk the system down, gotto change your walk
worse thing for our youth is that their parents and teachers wont be able to give sound advice because they came from a different time and age

However, like it or not, in a holistic approach, a society needs to move as one, once disparity is widened and the lower peoples are left in the cold, the govt need to do something about it, becos if they dun, the time bomb will tick off anytime, I believe our govt understand that, cos most are political social science graduate, that why you heard PM LHL said, we must move as one, no one is to left behind, the govt shall do it best to lift the lower peoples into the wagon, he also feels regretted that his policies did not do much to help the lower people, if he had known the singapore are progressing so fast, he would had train and help the lower peoples earlier.

hence the problem with expectations, govt says you are not pulling your weight in moving forward as one, you say govt not providing the necessary leverage to move forward with

I know a guy, around 50s, abit retarted, always look at the drain...till now, he never get rich, but was send to imh. Pity him.

the king of thailand has millions of loyal foillowers who worship him and love like a god.whenever a thai taxi driver drive thru bangkok,u can see him praying to picture of the thai king.thai king is most respected by their own thai people.
the leader of some spore place.....has not much followers.in fact he needs to make or force his people to worship n love him and give him offerings evertday.....kinda like a rapist forcing a buncha little girls to worship n love him.

I dun think life in thailand is all that great either is it? whats the average wage of a average thai? barely half of what an average singaporean earns. and the king cant do much but only the ruling party which happens to be a rich-minded PM. i dunno, look at the corruption in the govt, the rich-first attitude?

real buying power is getting the salary/ housing rent ratio right but recent housing price jumps have ripped this apart
plus global inflation coming with all that liquidity
salary has to go up or govt really have to subsidize rent; why not dip into the extra taxes collected because of all this FT employment to do it?
come to think about it, why not subsidize all those who contribute to defending it with this surplus tax income? in a way, the FT's taxes are used to pay those who made sacrifices, and fairness is reinstalled into the system
