Sudden Cessation of the IR free shuttle services

Yeah, 2 casinos are meant for local rich and foreigners.
Govt try not to let normal locals to gamble.
But terminate the bus shuttle will not help the problems.
Local gamblers really want to gamble can go by themselves.
I wonder who's idea (termination) is that. Plain stupid and narrow minded. Or from some so call recognised scholars ideas working in the govt?

Ya, a gambler will alway be a gambler, even if there is nothing left to eat or eat less, they still go and gamble,The question here is not about refusing or obstructing the free shuttle bus services, it is about the system, whatever you do in Singapore, please apply for permit or let the authority know, otherwise, once caught, no chance given. So gentlemen and ladies, please get the point right and be constructive in your arguement ya. The resort provide services out of knowledge and approve of the authority, if they had informed and discussed in the first place, govt will be glad to let them carry on. The fact that the govt was informed or get feedback by the unhappy residents of these places about free shuttle bus to casinos that may cause more singaporean falling into gamble habits, the govt then decided to take action and stop it as per residents of heartlander request, so now the gambler are making noises.
Why not go back to the initial, why build casinos in singapore??

why build casino so gahmen can incease revenue and tourism mah if not they at wist's end already. they don;t see that the problem with us is land and natuerla resources mah. always depend for import. just because we no resources means we cannot create our own resources lah. even people also depend on foreign talents ao kao i no eyes to see.

First of all, I rather go out with an old man than going out with you.Secondly, am i right to say that all these cheating in gambling, shuttle buses, jam and more peoples coming is the result of the casinos ? Now, just imagine without the casinos, what will be the situation of singapore now,...still the same old one roti, two eggs and kopi morning lifestyle. So, so far, is the casinos benefited us or otherwise,,,

hi, pardon me if I am wrong, but to affirm ->
1) Are you saying that the bus operators/resort did not get the necessary approvals?
2) are you saying that the govt act upon the feedbacks of unhappy residents?
to share, the original contract is for the bus operators to provide transportations from the heartland to the IR (note, IR, not casino). Isn't the casino 5-10% of the IR so why then does this constitutes to the buses contributing to gambling problem?
secondly, the bus operators took 1 month, or 30 days to get the necessary approvals from the necessary authorities. Do you know that?
thirdly, when the authorities approves this, surely, in their high powered minds, they must know the balance or pros/cons of this, but did they consider? why the swift cut, why the sudden non-negotiation?
next, the authorities is trying to encourage SMB to "stand up" but with a swift stroke, they are killing these businesses. So what message are they sending out? As long as people complain, we close you down??!!
Can I open a shop, run it for 3 months (not 3days), with proper permit, and someone make a feedback, which is of no fault of mine, and I have to close everything? What happens to the investments I made?

i bet most of us heard about the sucide of a gambler abroad one of the famous cruise ship.. so we should expect the authorities to shut down the whole business right??

From what i read on the news, yes, the govt either do not know or have initially turn a blind eyes to these free shuttle run, and i am quite certain that they are not informed. It is a make shift shuttle run that pick up the regulars on their best know spot, just like any other company buses picking up workers to work.As time went on, from ears to ears, more and more people started to come to know about it, aunties and uncles start plying the buses to casinos thru peers gathering, and this worried their family, sons and daughters who started to question the government, and even in some other forums, there were feedback on these buses, which the netizens find is weird about the real objectives of the casinos, which is to serves and influence the rich, the tourist and the foreigner, but not to influence the heartlanders. Of course anyone (above 21yo) can gamble at the casinos, but the influence by promotiing free shuttle bus services at laymen towns is out of the objectives set.

In the very first place, the authorities should not issue the licence to the bus operators. And now, they say terminate at once means terminate at once. Very dirty move isnt it? They are forcing pple to lost its job overnight and lost thousands of dollars! -

These buses are contractors, if casinos seized their contract, they still got many other thing to do...no job lost ya, just less intake of profits. Problem is not with the buses, but the casinos. -

What they do is very gangster type style, terminate immediately without giving the bus contractors any notice at all. It really gives me not a good impression at all. -

Now all the hard core gamblers will not be able to figure out how to reach the casinoes.
