Perhaps the mercenary ruling should consider to encourage the elites to give birth to more babies. This group of people can afford it no matter how high costs of living it is in sg. -
Actually, with bio-science we are not far away from factory, mass production of geneticaly engineered babies - super smart, super fast, super strong, super long life babies.
Until then and if the PAP gods are still around, I wonder if we and the PR will be shalved, packed and shipped to some Batam, Bintan hideaway.

i beg to different, cloning is definitely against the laws of God and Edywar, guess these scientists are building something that can change our old peoples or handicap people to young, active, tall, muscular and blue people to help our economy. I think that may solve the immigration problem.

Law is made my man and given time, law can be changed or evolved. If you and I were borned a hundred ago in China and if we were caught leaving China for British's Singapore, the imperial law of China would have us beheaded for being disloyal subjects.

Apart from high costs of living, there is also an insurmountable pressure on men to be unreasonable liable upon divorce - it makes single hood safer than tying up with a time bomb on the bed....

i blame both side of the coin, the environment and the individual, developed countries tend to have this trend of being singlehood, it also rises selfishness in individual in producing decendents, ultimately, it is against our natural evolution of human kinds, for animals can even die for their youngs and producing more, whereas, we human are alienating ourselve from producing and worst, throw our youngs in dustbin, drain or down rubbish cute...i am afraid our basic instinct as human is totally lost -

Strongly agreed. Even presently can see many foreign, especially China teacher in childcare center.
Standard drop and worse corporal punishment used in childcare center, sad to share my bad experience, and hope info is useful.
Corporal punishment like shouting, hitting a child is prohibited under MCYS regulation. More info can be found in MYCS website.
But the regulation is brief, like emotional abuse, such as scolding of "stupid" etc and physical abuse. Few weeks ago my son is abuse by the center "China" teacher. Complaining to the principal is useless as the teacher denied what she has done, and worse now the principal after dragging this case also side with her teacher, and claiming my 3 years old boy lying,
3 years old, now having nightmare every night, and scare to go to the center and afraid of the teacher who hit him…lying????
Just imagine NO CAMERA in the center, and putting our children of 2~3years old in childcare…how can they protect themselves, they even cannot express their feelings. Right now still waiting for MCYS investigation since last week… and has kept some concerning parents in the loop of all email correspondants with MCYS, on the measures and enforcement of their REGULATION on such corporal punishment to the children.
Singapore as a develop country, with so many RULES and regulation need to investigate such a case???
To have another kids??? With such protection and set back in a develop country?
I rather think….not only twice.
