The stifling system that kills off creativity.
Its known as human development index. Singapore scores a pathetic #23 in the rankings
The environment here is so stifling and repressive. No sense of freedom whatsoever.
Just a big prison.
With people like you around, 100 years later, every also fail. Please lah, Stand Up for Singapore can or not??? Dun look at the govt, just ask yourself, aint you lucky to here instead of planting potatos and cutting rubber??
Every country got is own unique good and bad, and also ugly and beauti, you said about the USA, i think u better think twice, without their govt intervention and billing out, USA is a shit piece of land already, and those Wall's street guys should be hang to death and stuffed with Wall's ice cream in their mouth. And mine me, Aussie can be much better than it is, with so much natural resources, if Singaporeans are their population, Aussie by now will be world nos 1 in economy, but those lazy aussies dun like to work so much, just drink and drink....another foster beer please. Down in sydney bay club.

I think the system is even a greater failure in this one. The citizens it breds should be well disciplined but now what do u see - increase in teen delinquents, corrupt individuals , people who turn into gays and lesbians for trend
Think twice before criticizing, you would tend to make yourself lose credibility.
SG system has alot of failures but also alot of pros. For example we have yet to see massive catastrophic failures experienced elsewhere. Anyways which systems in the world are truely failsafe?....
But I doubt SG system is sustainable.. most of our inputs and outputs are internal... for example our F&B industry is mostly serving locals, analogically is like churning money internally, there may be internal economy, but where are our foreign profits!?!?!
Originally posted by ☃®:IMO, it failed to create model business centric citizens. While countries like Australia and US have properly trained and educated their citizens to become skillfull expatriates to bring in foreign investment from the rest of the world, the system here has done the opposite - creating braindead uncreative individuals through the lacking education system. The result of the system is the over reliance on foreign MNCs and at their total mercy. Such a system cannot produce mutual economic benefits as it result in only one thing - Exploitation
Are you one of the braindead individuals or just a common person stifled from expressing their creativity?

I am talking about the needed characteristics for today's world.
I tend to see the transition of gays and lesbians as merely action of choice, not because of structure. Though I agree that our society does not provide much 'options' of choice, considering much information has been filtered though mass socialization procedures.
If we are taking a people development view, ☃® is making a great point. However in singapore's cultural context, moulded from years of propaganda, the sum of all individuals MUST BE greater than the individuals involved (i.e. we should work together for better future), and some MORE EQUAL than others (i.e. we use merit to justify rewards). Individuals' development must not happen before the country.
SAD.
