This is what I believe, too.
Think the incumbent party will still win the next election.
But probably in the low 60% of popular vote.
Probably in the low 50s.

A 50.00000000000001% and they get a landslide mandate.

The people have spoken!
Time to raise minister salaries again after the elections.

We know they will always think of helping the poor first everytime.
Yes, even before they raise their salaries.
More ERPs to ease the traffic.
Japan has had many visionary leaders like Hayoto Ikeada and Eisaku Sat (shared Nobel Peace winner) and sound policies in the 60s and 70s together with an intelligent and diligent workforce that brought about its meteoric rise, the envy of the world.
A leader in the fields of scientific research, particularly technology, machinery and biomedical research. Nearly 700,000 researchers share a US$130 billion research and development budget, the third largest in the world.
One reader has commented earlier that pap rule might last another 40 years .
NOT if it begins to behave like that North Korea with the rounding up of political prisoners at detention camps.
But as far as there is an election, there is hope.
No countries in modern times can rule uninterrupted, unchecked , undemocratic for nearly a century in a time of such great inter-connectivity. Even the CCP of China at 60 is treading nervously and struggling to keep a tight lid on dissenting voices,
Is time is running out for SG, for a new leader to emerge hopefully in the next one or two elections?

Your wish has been granted.
They just raised ERP charges at some roads recently.

i read that buses and mrt are not full, singaporeans are taking less public transport, all buying cars, therefore to encourage more to take public transport and fully utilise our world class buses (with PRC drivers), they increased the Car COE and ERP. Isn't that a lame excuses??? want money just take lah, why must said buses or mrt not fully utilised....damn, when i take mrt and buses, it is alway full. And as for buses, you better learn know how to speak mandarin.
Buy cars is normal
Maybe more BMW & Jaguar..
Less toyota liao
SG 11TH GENERAL ELECTION : AT THE CROSSROADS FOR CHANGE
Generations X & Y could well be the bastion of support for the real watershed elections to become a reality. New generations of Sg are educated, informed and politically savvy. Gradually, it may take up to two elections, at least not until the pap oldest bulwark is out of the picture.
The next election is itself a psychological watershed for that party. As they grapple with their leadership transition, it may show sign of crack if they cannot get their act together to ensure their huge entity remain intact.
See their party is very heavy and tired on the top and the search for the next leader is rather urgent.
As we are now in a truly globalised internet age, even more so with the introduction of domain names input from Asian languages, blunting the edge of the pap media domination. However their 'infiltration' into the MSM has resulted in the Alternative voice becoming virtually non-existent.
Singaporeans have witnessed how one minister tried so hard defend the government stance in the control of the State-controlled media lately. Maybe voters of the 1960s would be taken in by arguement that economic development is the substitute for freedom of expressions.
Today voters expect nothing less than a fair competition based on a media platform that is truly 100% unbiased to all the parties.
New generations of Singaporeans have certainly enough of their warped reasonings (wai li).
Right now, voting for the incumbent party is like endorsing their "cheaper" worker strategy.
If you want lower wages while cost of living spirals out of control, then go right ahead and vote for them.
in the coming election if PAP really walk the talk there will be more single ward up for challenge. The opposition in my small opinion to shall common goals and party direction and merge. try to get as many wards from the next election as a base and grow from there.
many singaporeans like myself are fed up with the state control media, gestapo type of police force that harass opposition members or arrest at the command of XXX. incapable minister remain in office dispite making mistake in own ministeries. the close link between the military and the PAP. ever more influx of foreigners into our already cramp living space!
MP who hold various office in private sectors that make me question their real intention of join politics in the first place
i hope i can see a glimpse of light in my lifetime. a country can only grow to be better if only we have real democratic society. no one party run country can last forever. corruption will be one of the challenges PAP will face if it run office for extended period of time. if we do not have credible back up, what then? singapore will be dead!!

Singaporeans gave them the mandate to be their representatives in the government, but they use it also as the means to curb our freedom .
Chew Bakar, were the peranakans in Singapore known to be pro british in the 1940s, 1950s?
So were they?
