My frz was caught littering cigaratte butt. The thing is he is unlucky that he is next to a lighted cigaratte butt on the floor. He being acussed.
The NEA officer raised voice and keep insisting with no concrete evidence. Later, Police intervene. The police record the parties IC number. The NEA officers did not take down the IC number but they take his vehicle number instead. They will very unpolite and was demanding.
1 month later, the latter received a summon and a court order stating SGD 300 summon. He tried to call NEA with the number given but to no avali.
Do you think he should attend courting proceeding and deny. What will happen? Do you think he need a laywer to be there.Personally i think the law will side with the Government agency and my frz will lose.
Is It unfair law system. -
was he alone?
was the nea officer alone when he caught your friend?
is your friend a smoker?
was the lighted cigarette kept as an initial exhibit?
to subjugate the case the NEA officer has against your friend, then onus probandi has to be the validity of the lighted cigarette butt (DNA et al) which in turn will blow up the whole shit la
so, if i were him..i would just appeal

Sometimes u see if he win. I mean the situation is still unfavourable to him if he win or lose. Fight so hard and win the case, later the government agency say sorry only. If lose he also lan lan. You hear before Government say what also can.

dude..u cant possibly ask NEA for remedies over trauma or loss of income right?
Besides, it's the jurisdiction of NEA to allow their officers to issue summons if they see any infringements or infractions... -
Well, try to solve it with NEA... if cannot solve, pay up is better than losing the case and having to pay for legal fees and court fees as well...

If yer fwen is just trying to weasel out of paying the fine, tell him, don't even bother lah.The effort he needs to put in to deny his own crime is really not worth it. Just pay the fine and don litter again.

Yes. I also my frz to pay. Cos win or lose the case is equal to LOSE. What can he gain? If he win the case. They just say sorry. Got any use a not. He wasted his lawyer money and effort. Rich man games.This is the loophole that the government is playing. Dirty trick.
Anyway, he can still write in to complaint the attitude of the officers.Anyway, one more vote for opposition from my friend.
We can see Singapore will be like JAPAN. Young people want to change Japan government. TRUE They Did IT.
Next election Singapore will also follow suit. With Temasek losses, Rising Inflation, Escape of Mas Selamat. I am very certain they had already shake or lost the confident of the supporter. That include me.
