  Here's my impression of a hypothetical flag for a State of Singapore, similar to Australia as an independent Republic with the Queen as Head of State. (Perhaps in a parallel universe)

  why do they recognise the queen as a head of state anyway? so that means the queen has some sort of power over them still?

  I like our flag as it is. All the old ones can put up for auction for those who are fond of their colonial master. Proceedings will be returned to the queen, for her old age.
  
  I like Yusof ishak, Benjamin sheares, Devan Nair, Wee Kim Wee... as our head of state.
  
  If we need a queen, I wouldn't mind if Princes Diana
