Well I think politicians all over the world should migrate to singapore and join the singapore government, as according to our bunch of Fat over paid minister, any minister receiving less than $1.2million dollars are at risk of corruption.
So bush and the united states govt are all earning less than $1.2million and are all at of risk corruption. U.S., a world superpower govern by corrupted people and that goes for the rest of the world govenment as well. Singaporeans we are alone. -
By right, we should not be afraid that there's is corruption- cos we have CPIB & citizens can act as whistleblowers as in the case of NKF.
First get them to declare assets before taking office.
Also limit the no. of terms they can serve eg US president cannot go more than 2 terms. -

President George W. Bush.
"I'm going to emigrate and run for office in Singapore," the official said on condition he be identified only as "a senior administration official who sits in disbelief after reading that story."
On Monday, the Singapore government had announced a fresh 25.5 percent pay hike for Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, boosting his salary to 2.05 million dollars per year.
Bush gets paid 400,000 dollars per year for doing his job, according to the White House.
Combined with personal investment income, he and his wife Laura reported 618,694 dollars in taxable income in the 2005 fiscal year. They had to pay 187,768 dollars in federal taxes.
But maybe Bush shouldn't feel so bad. The Singaporean's paycheck is eight times fatter than Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's.

1. If the PAP wants to use Private Sector pay as a yardstick, then it cannot be just based on one KPI (Key Performance Indicator) of GDP Growth. As the PAP claims that the main driver for ministerial pay hikes is the attrition rate in the elite Admin Service, then shouldn't "Succession Planning" be included as one more KPI in addition to the other valid ones suggested in Parliament during the recent debate???
2. It was reported in the press that "the elite Admin Service has lost entire cohorts of young capable officers to the private sector". This is DESPITE the fact that salaries of AOs at SR9 (the first Superscale grade) are currently at $372k per year pegged to the top earners aged 32 in the private sector (ie, 103% of the benchmark of $361k). Hence, this group would NOT be getting any pay adjustment for this round. This clearly proves that the disastrous brain drain is happening even though the Gahmen is paying ABOVE the benchmark.
Our ministers and senior civil servants have failed miserably in grooming/retaining their successors but are getting rewarded with bonuses and salary increments???
3. Serious suggestion: After the first 10% attrition per annum for this category of next-generation-leaders (from SR9 to below-Superscale D), for every 10% resignation thereafter of the junior and middle ranks in this elite Admin Service during the year of evaluation, the ministerial and senior civil servants' salary and bonus be cut by 1%.
4. Another factor - Post-retirement benefits: We must NOT forget that in the private sector, once you lose your job (whether by retirement, retrenchment or restructure), that's it. In the govt service for these Top Brass - there's a pension scheme of sorts (replete with almost free medical care) that goes on until death for those who retire after the official retirement age. An "imputed" cost of benefit should be added to the remuneration package if the PAP wants to peg Public Service Pay Scale to the Private Sector.

My main concern is how the MPs' pay hike is linked to zero corruption.
Pay them more to wipe out corruption or is it pay them more so they will never succumb to corruption?
This is dangerous to our government because other countries' PMS/Heads of States might think Singapore is insulting their lower pay as being their being opened to corruption.... even if it is true, no one in the government will like being assumed as corrupted. -
If US were to follow Singapore, using top private sector top earners as benchmark,
the US President and VP will probably get over USD100M a year!!!
U can imagine the public backlash.
