I understand the concerens though for just because something isn't proven doesn't neccessarily mean it isn't true. Hence, perhaps same-sex marriage should be allowed with no rights of child adoption first.
In addition, I do not see why some would point out declining birth rates as a reason for not allowing same-sex marriages. If they are gays and lesbians, they are hardly going to enter into a heterosexual relationship to procreate are they? Or, if they do enter into a heterosexual relationship just to procreate, I would suggest that is hardly a healthy environment for a child to grow up in.
Further, technology and society is such today that there is no need for a partner to procreate.

The question has to be answered by the majority of Singaporeans. The government is ambivalent about it. If Singapore society overwhelmingly supports it, the laws can be changed but not until that happens.
The laws of a nation must, among other things, reflect the cultural and moral norms of the people. If Singaporeans are strongly for 'Playboy' to be sold at the newstands, that will happen too. -

This argument against same-sex marriage does not pass even the basic test of logic. First, homosexual people constitute a very small ratio in society, even when they are all out of the closet. Them not reproducing is not going to directly afffect birth rate. Second, think of those who choose not to reproduce due to infertility or religious reasons. What are you going to say to them?
