Why my votes matters - A dialogue with Minister Mentor

Dear Snow Leopard,
I am not too quick to directly linking a single party (the PAP) to destruction of a country. Suppose an opposition party wins this election and "completely wipe out" the PAP in the next and maintains a " complete stranglehold". Will that be good? Will you then champion the PAP?
I sincerely apologies if I belittle anyone in the post, it was not meant to be. I merely want to draw a distinction between having fun and doing something serious. Posting in this forum is fun, chosing a leader is serious.
I like again, to state my point, that save a few, opposition parties' candidates have no track record (at least the ones that show face so far). In my opinion, as an underdog, opposition candidates should have started preparing the ground for this election as far as five years ago. Never mind if he has no CEO post, he should build up grassroots work and champion those who cannot fight for themselves. Bring good to the needy and be examplary in conduct. Then, stand next to a PAP candidate during this election and win.
Side track hor.... i think bringing up minister salaries and high cost of living is a lost cause. We have one of the highest standards of living, a low rate of cost increase and a bunch of damn good ministers. If Winston Churchill is alive today and we can pay to employ him, I would say, use the reserves. Money can only buy so much.....

MM already mentioned voter above 40 years old formed 60% of the total voters. Hence below 40 years old only 40%. So I was wondering why the talk was for. 60% already supported him to stay on power. -

what i fear is that if you start going around making known to people your intentions to campaign five years later, you'd end up drinking kopi in ISD before the end of the year ...

not true. ministerial pay is too shamelessly high, always a point of contention. how can we have high standards of living yet at the same time we have our PM saying one of our top priorities is to help the 40 year old cope with joblessness, paying his elderly parents' medical expenses and children's school fees?

The underlying reason is “fear” and who want to be thrown into the arena sacrificing all that they have?
I watched MM Lee on TV and was impressed by his demeanor and artistic mellowed & rationale explanations and then I asked myself: why cannot someone like him think in terms of eternity? And I marvel at the wisdom of the world without God, they have to be ruthless to be winners just like the fittest survive in this jungle of wild animals
The question is: would all Singaporeans perferred to be treated just as animals without such or any human dignity? -

Reporter Ken indeed make an assumption based on the survey conducted, labelling the people interviewed 'fearful' of voting when in fact their take on the survey were only 'no comment' in nature. This was swiftly overturned by MM, before it get falsely broadcasted. Nothing wrong in my opinion.

If you say during the building of Singapore, i do agree with you MM Lee has done a good job so does Mr. Goh.
However I am not confident MM Lee's son, can take up a good job what his father did.
However at times, when i look at the Oppositions, their manifesto really makes me have a second thought.
They are still not as strong as PAP. if Oppositions are strong, why not we give it a shot
Ultimately it's not only about who's better...? (though I admit this is of course important point to consider) But what would the 'better' (more resourceful) person do with you at the end of the day when he can get all his fruits.... -
X 2. I agree that oppositions need not be there to replace the ruling party, but somehow the gap cannot be too gap between the ruling party and the oppositions... And we need an adequate 'force' around so that things could be questioned and stay in check... Not just to watch a 'fight' as MM has suggested... I wish I was that smart and clever thinking..I would stand for election thirty years ago!!
However, I am thinking of going to visit my daughter in Canada, during the period and election date since she's graduating in April.. however, if I can vote I will stay and vote.
The obvious reason is because I wrote , and they had visited me. One of the GRC MPs at AMK with a big party came to my door, and I warmly shook his hands, and after that the plain cloth police officer hand me a crime prevention flyer as an excuse asking for my telephone numbers. I check with my neighbours and none were asked for their telephone numbers!
I am never afraid of going to court, police station or jail or wahtever but just asking would you have any courage to stand against all these liars in the garmen?
